No Clue

I do not no anything about C&C cages because my piglets used something else. So tell me everything. (it can't be more then 1-2 feet though because of where I am keeping it in my room, will that be a problem?)

Re: No Clue

When you say "1-2 feet" do you mean all around or the height? The minimum for one pig is a 2x3 grid cage, which is actually larger than 2' x 3'. The height is a little over 1'.

Re: No Clue

I mean for length I was planning on putting it at the end of my bed, but I see that porbably won't work out too well. I don't have much room my old pigglets were on top of my desk or the really jumpy one sometimes was on the floor with a lid with large holes. My desk now has lots of stuff on it and I can't make much room. I didn't want the cage in the middle of the floor because my dogs sometimes get in my room. Although one of my dogs loves guinea pigs they used to play it was cute (I only let them play a little because I got scared). Well I still need to know everything.
Would a closed C&C cage keep my dogs out?

Re: No Clue

Yes, a closed cage would keep most dogs out. But do you have room for a 2x3 grid cage?

Then what is the point of making a C&C cage?

Alfie - If you are here to truly learn about how to better care for Guinie Pigs then you are in the right place. From all of the things you have said you did not take very good care of your pets in the past.

If you are here to ask questions, ignore our advice and continue making the same mistakes and neglectful decisions then it would be best if you go.

We have a very high standard of care for our pets on this forum. That includes large cage sizes. The Minimum size C&C we advocate is a 2x3 cube (about 28 x 42 inches). If you are planning on making anything smaller then that then you are not supplying your pet the Minimum recomendation and being neglectful to your pet's needs.

We do not look kindly on people that willingly and knowingly neglect/abuse animals.

Re: No Clue

I have room for a little over 2x3 I found a new place.

What did I say that shows I haven't taken good care of them? Thats a very rude thing to say and never talk to me like that. The cages I have seem so far haven't been too too big, where do you suggest to buy them?

When you said you wanted to keep them in 1x2 c&c's because of space issues. Voodoojoint was not being rude to you. You might want to listen to the moderators on this forum. And in case you don't know, voodoojoint and myself are both moderators.

You can use this link to locate materials to build a c&c cage.

Re: No Clue

Why don't you give your age? We might be able to hunt you down knowing the great detail that youre a (insert age here) year old female? What the good website you got this info from? What do you plan to do when they get sick? What are you going to do with them when you go to college?

Re: No Clue

What are you like 11? Then maybe the guinea pigs general lifespan would end before college. I am guessing you are 13 because you need to be at least that old to sign up with out your parents consent. So lets see 13+ 6= 19, I'm pretty sure you'd be in college.

You are just full of incorrect information from all these guinea pig websites you have been visiting. Most illnesses are totally curable. When your pig gets sick, you take it to the Vet and the Vet will prescribe medications to make the pig better if that's what it needs. Some pigs may require surgery because that's what it takes to make them better. I know people with heart pigs and even heart pigs on medications can live a normal lifespan. Cut the crappy excuses. I think the members here are getting very tired of all your incorrect information.

Re: No Clue

Well that is not what I heard. It can also be hard to tell when a guinea pig is sick sometimes. Is it possible for a guineapig to die of being traumatized (spell check)?

Re: No Clue

Alfie Dag mesntioned that if you are 13 you would be 19 when the piggy was senior. But some pigs (and it's not uncommon) live until 10. 13+10= 23.

Younger people like 11 or 12 are smart enough to lie about their age to register(no I'm not that young).

Re: No Clue

Not trying to sound rude or mean... but why would you point out that your piggie would be dead by the time you went to college? It just makes it sound like you're not that interested in it's well being because you don't expect it to live very long.

Even if you knew your piggie would be "gone".. let's say tomorrow.. that would be no excuse to not take care of it to the best of your ability today.

I'm not trying to be mean.. I just thought that wasn't a very nice way for you to justify having your pet in a small space.

You wouldn't want to be forced into a tiny space yourself, would you?

Good luck with your cage making...
