The floor should be made of something waterproof. Paper is absorbent and will smell very quickly. If you can't find coroplast, there are other waterproof alternatives such as a shower curtain. |

I am not even sure what you are trying to say, so forgive me if I misinterpret. Of course it's cheaper to make your own than to buy your cage from a website. In fact, they strongly encourage you to make your own. They simply offer the option of buying here for those for whom it isn't an option. Paper isn't going to work for a floor, at least not for long. You need something waterproof. Coroplast is the material of choice for many, but others have been successful with linoleum, a shower curtain, vinyl table cloths, etc. zip-ties (I'm assuming that's what you meant by "zips"?) are one good choice in lieu of the connectors, or in addition to them. I prefer them to the connectors, but others have better luck and/or like the appearance of the connectors more. |
