Hello all!
I am sooo happy! I have had my 2 recent girls for almost a year now! Seems like just yesterday I was driving down the highway to get them!
Today whilst cleaning their cage I had an amazing break through! Penelope my little spazz who hates being touched or approached LET me touch her today! She sniffed my hand and let me stroke her (well before Tiger came over to hog the love), she has been warming up recently and this is awesome!
I am trying to devote more time to them, between school, my dog and volunteer work it is hard to spend good time with them but I have been getting there! I have been giving them floortime while my dog eats (on days when he is fed raw). I started feeling worse for them after looking through old pictures pre Tiger Lily and Penelope. I realized that when my old pig Java (RIP) got sick I started neglecting their cage. I am trying my best to sweep it once a day if not twice and washing the fleece atleast once or twice a week (don't kill me some weeks its hard!).
I'm also trying to get them more active because Charlie-Muffins weight has been taking a toll on her body. Her feet kinda point out and they shouldn't. She has never been super active but when Java was sick she gained alot of weight and has yet to lose it (I've cut back pellets, and sugary veggies in the past months). She is getting a bit older but she isn't that old yet!
So hopefully in the next few months everything will be falling into place and my girls will get the attention they deserve and hopefully Penelope will gain my trust (she chatters everytime I stand near the cage) and Charlie will come back out of her shell (hasn't been the same in a year or so).
