  1. putting stuff between me and the mud

    I get together with some friends most friday mornings and we talk about our spiritual journey, and where we are and how things are going. the group has decided to discuss a particular book, and so for the past several months we’ve done that. I however am not a big fan. since they expect me to “lead” the group, being the advanced spiritual guru that I am (that was sarcasm folks), I go along and do my best to follow the wishes of the group.

  2. humming into their fur

    I just finished the nightly feedings with Dak and dash. It was quiet; I was tired, but not too tired. Just the kind of tired when it feels good to sink into the sofa and not think for a while.

    I had Dak first. It took him a little longer to figure out how to use the syringe. But now that he has he just loves it!! Reminds me of those little baby animals grabbing at the bottle and sucking like there’s no tomorrow.

    Well, after what, three weeks or so, we have all settled in – Dak, Dash and i. the gloves are off, and we’re all starting to behave in a way that more true to who we really are.

    Over and over again I see this when I’m working with people facing an end of life health crisis. As families gather around the bedside, all the best and the worst in who they are gets magnified. Change, crisis, stress, all these things heat up the petrie dish of our lives, and stuff starts to grow really ...

  5. life in my lap

    So, yesterday I took the two boys Dak and Dash to the specialist near us. Dr. Doolen specializes in avians and exotics. He was soooo great!! Answered all our questions, very kind and patient with the boys. He’s seen some lethal whites in his practice, though not many, and certainly none as old as Dak and Dash.

    The biggest problem for my boys turns out to be their teeth. Dash has one bottom tooth which was VERY long and the usual 2 top teeth. Dak has only the 2 top teeth. The ...
