Telemarketing is my idea of hell
Seriously I am pretty sure if you go to hell they lock you in a room and force you to call hundreds of people and irritate them, and have most of them yell at you or slam the phone down. All the while a supervisor is breathing down your neck saying 'How many surveys have you gotten filled out so far?!' So, I was supposed to aim for at least a total of 12 or more, since it was my first shift as they usually expect 24 or more, well, guess what, I got 6. And one of them, the guy hung up halfway through cuz he had enough of me so you know what I did? I just filled the rest out for him. Naughty naughty. I really. Hate. This. Job.

I'm on the phone all day as well working for a lawyer in what can really only be described as bill collecting. Believe me I dislike my job as well... but I am happy to have it because of how long I went without a job. It is very hard to get a job right now, so I'll take what I can get. I did a few month stint with the school call center calling up parents and alumni asking for donations and got hung up on, cussed out, yelled at, and occasionally had a few nice people. It is pretty horrible isn't it! Yeah there were a few nice people that made it almost bearable, but then you'd get like 10 people who get so angry. It just made me feel like a horrible human being to do that to people
. Oh yeah I quit the job by the way hahaha I did so badly I was about to get fired anyway so I just said 'you know what, I might just leave.' and walked out. Well back to just one job now and studying, but hopefully something else will turn up. The worst part for me about telemarketing was the fact I was getting abused and hung up on, fair enough, then to turn around and have 3 supervisors all going 'HOW MANY SURVEYS HAVE YOU DONE NOW!? YOU'RE GOING TO DOUBLE YOUR CURRENT NUMBER IN THE NEXT HOUR OKAY!' They were really horrible to me, I was doing the best I could. Ah well, silly people.Posted 11-21-09 at 11:11 pm by distancel
