New Cage :)

I went from a 2x6 to a 4x4. The piggies love it! I can't open my wardore door that much, but its worth it! I had to rearrange my bedroom but it only took about 15 minutes. I just have to get cable ties because I couldn't find my old ones.

Nativism...Empiricism...a n ongoing debate within myself...

This head of mine is constantly shaking and stirring unless I silence it with Seroquel. Even then, it will still keep going if my internal questions are strong enough.

The situation that sparked the internal debate about nature vs nurture, nativism vs empiricism...etc.. was that I went over to the boys' cage and put my hand in it. Santino stayed. Barney ran. Simple, right?

This isn't something that is unusual or alarming to me, but the fact that I was so clear headed...

I changed the fleece last night. I was reluctant because I had this image of having to be a circus performer to change it. I'm really a ditz some times. You see, I made the cage so that four panels along the side can be removed, and with that small fix, I neither had to become a contortionist or even remove the coroplast. I just pulled the towels out, wiped with vinegar and water, and put fresh towels down. Not even the slightest headache.

I still have to wash the used fleece, but that's...

Do your guinea pigs do this too?

Posted 08-05-09 at 06:18 am by Mamma-Harlow

Do guinea pigs recognise their names when you say them or call them? Can they? Do they understand certain words?

Now while I LOVE my sweet little poogs, I know that they aren't the sharpest animals out there. However, I have recently discovered that the boys recognise and respond to their own names and two phrases. At first I didn't really notice it or think anything of it, just a cute coincidence. Then I started to try it out more often every day to see if I was just imagining it....

The Sillyness of Guineas!

Posted 03-29-09 at 03:57 pm by tehdoc809

Quick Sad intro, I recently recieve a big play tube from my friend who's ferret passed away recently. This tube looks like a big dryer vent hose, but its green and made of plastic. When I say big.. I mean big. its 8ft long and big enough round for the largest of Guineas to fit into it.

So I put this in with my girls and Heidi is immediately interested in it and starts testing is durablity with some light chewing. After about 20 minutes she works up the nerve to venture into it. Next,...
