I am officially putting a ban on videos that show reptiles eating guinea pigs, rabbits, rats, mice, etc... YouTube has hundreds of them and there is no point in posting them. We all know there are ignorant reptile owners out there that still feed live. We do not have to watch them doing it.

Great idea VoodooJoint....

although there is no way I would ever click on a link like that....I just couldn't bare to see that...You would think that there should be some standards that YouTube makes people who post there, adhere to....

YouTube adheres to the fist amendment which allows the freedom of speech. They will not remove videos unless they are pornographic, dangerous or illegal, gratuitously violent, infringe on copyrights, are overly hateful/racist or are used to stalk/harass/infringe on personal privacy.

Since feeding live prey to reptiles is still legal in the United States they will not remove them.

I'm actually going to watch that video. I'm into facing the truth, though not against those who are squeamish, I'm a bit anti-denial at the moment (today I dealt with a total "breeders-rock" person who refused to go on Cavyspirit because they more-or-less didn't want to face the reality of the thing).
EDIT: Aargh! Even I couldn't watch the whole thing. The sound on my computer is right down, so I may have been imagining it, but I could hear that cavy squeaking. :yuck:

I think that their should really be a way to flag other videos that have more secretive names like "guinea pig" that show terrible things like that. I didn'y really watch it because my computer wouldn't upload it, just the first 10 seconds. Maybe in some one elses lifetime videos like these won't even be imagined because everyone has finally discovered the ability to value all living things. But it will take a LONG time. Don't ask me what the snakes are going to eat. I'm just dreaming here.

There is no way around the fact that snakes and some other reptiles need "whole animal" food to be healthy. Because they need to eat a whole animal does not mean that an animal must suffer a traumatic death to provide it.

I have stated before that I do not agree with the keeping of wild animals as pets. Snakes are wild animas. They are not domesticated and remain unchanged from their wild counterparts. People have no business breeding or buying them. That said I have a rescue Ball Python. It's partially because of my current snake, turtles and past reptile rescues that I have the opinion about reptiles as pets that I have now.

My Ball Python eats prekilled mice. That is the responsible manner that reptile owners feed their animals. It is easily accessible, humane and healthier for the reptile. There may be no getting around the eating of whole animals but there are definitely options out there IF most reptile owners owned snakes for the right reasons. Sadly the majority of them do not. They are a novelty and it allows them to cause death without feeling as if the blood is on their hands.

On the note of what they eat, I went to a birds of prey show once and they said that they fed the birds chicks that would other wise be discarded as "stock unfit for human consumption". This is in England though so I don't know if that happens in America?
