Hi Guys,

Yeah as Em suggested there are a few rescues around although Broome is quite remote. What I'd do first is probably ring your closest rspca to see if they have any piggies in. If they don't then maybe turn to your local ads in the local paper sometimes people may need to sell their guinea pigs for a particular reason.

If worse came to worse and you really wanted to rescue a piggy there are some guinea pigs owners that do ship piggies interstate. I ship guineas interstate to approved homes only of course, buyers have to pass and agree to our rescues adoption terms etc but we do ship interstate. Usually for 2-3 guinea pigs it'll cost around $65.00 although it does depend where you're located. We do have some rescues here at the moment and if you were determined to get a rescue piggy I'm more than happy to check out costs by ringing airlines etc for you. Our website link is in my profile if you are interested.

Em do you know anyone that also rescues guineas in WA?

How does your local petshop keep their piggies? Sometimes petstores can have sick or malnourished pigs for sale...maybe if you had a local petshop like this you could have a word with the owner if there are a few malnourished piggies and they may " give " you the pigs to treat. Here in QLD we seem to have alot of petstores that mistreat their piggies although I've heard through some people that interstate it's not as bad. I guess up here I could probably " save " a few through petstores by getting them to literally give me the pigs if they were in a bad way...I have doneso several times in the past and ended up reporting them...again though I guess it depends on the petshop and the condition of their animals but yeah just a suggestion if you did want to save a piggy there are definitely some petstores they can be saved from without you having to hand over money and supporting them.

We're located in Brisbane Queensland.
(broken link removed)

We've had around 10 piggies adopted this week it's been a big week for adoption so there's alot less avail now...but yeah I completely understand the distance and money could be a concern. I'm more than willing to still check out prices though if you wanted.
Usually shipping from a major airport to another major airport keeps the price down.

Em

Percy's - I posted what I did in response to this question so that Gunnedah knew where the original poster lived. I didn't want to just post the information without mods knowing that I got the information from a public posting, not private conversation. Do you understand now?

That's fine, but as is evident from the fact that she answered the question after you posted that, gold-guinea is perfectly able to answer about her own personal information.

Percy's, I wasn't degrading the poster's intelligence at all. There was no need for you to call me out publicly in the forum over something so benign. It was late at night, and I was purely being helpful. There was no ulterior motive, and I don't appreciate you calling me out like a child and accusing me of doing something wrong. My intention was good.

Niki - It looked to me like you were trying to start something too. I couldn't figure out what part of that post was supposed to be helpful until you pointed it out to PM.

I don't know if you have a general attitude problem or if you simply word your posts in a manner that make many of them seem snarky but try to do something to remedy the situation.

You two have GOT to be kidding me!

I got online last night. I saw that this poster asked a question. I copy/pasted the answer in the words of the person identically, so as not to be falsely accused of giving out private information inappropriately or give misinformation. I wasn't being snarky, ugly, mad, angry or any other negative emotion you're trying to tie into this.

This was an attempt at giving a quick, helpful answer to a poster, in case the OP (original poster) was not online that late.

My GOSH, you read a lot into a copied/pasted reply. I don't know why you have chosen to make a huge deal out of my attitude, when I only copy/pasted a post - didn't use any of my own emotion to it. And now, we continue to keep this public, with both of you on my case. What gives?

VJ wasn't talking about your cut and paste. She was referring to how you responded when I asked you why you cut and pasted it, and then when I advised that gold-guinea could answer questions addressed to her on her own.

I'm not kidding.

Look at how defensive you are getting. How many times have I gotten on your case Niki? Do you honestly think I posted to gang up on you?

I stated my opinion of what I saw. I also refrained from asking about it when I saw it. Once you explained I left it alone until you decided to make a big deal about PM remarking on it.

Now, because I remarked about how I thought you were trying to start something too, and because I asked you to do something about the manner you post in, you are trying to bait me into a fight. It won't work.

You could have said in the copied/pasted post something like "gold-guinea said they live in Broome". You also could have edited out the part of the post about buying from a breeder and just posted the necessary info.

You are too intelligent to not see how that could be read out of context. Because you are smart enough to realize that, playing dumb doesn't fly.

No sarcasm there, Percy's. And *I* am the one with a bad attitude? Cute.
