 Well my mom gave my puppies away without telling me and now they are in Mexico and she wants them back and I do too. I was wondering is it possible to cross the border or if I can meet them? Please help!:sorry:

Thanks

Your mum doesn't have a phone number, address or something to contact them? Or did she just give them away just like that?

I know nothing about the mexican border but I know that I can go in and out of Canada without too much trouble.

Mexican border

Does anyone know if 2 cocker spaniels can cross the Mexican border back in to Texas with a shot and vacine record? Please help!!

She gave them away to the pound so I have their phone number...someone please tell me

Why did she give your puppies away in a different country? Poor decision making.

I don't want to sound too rude but if your mom gave the dogs to the pound and they were adopted out then it is just tough luck for you guys. It is not very responsible to decide that you don't want a pet one day and get rid of it and then change your mind the next day. I know that if I decided to adopt a dog I would be really really pissed off if the person who got rid of the animal decided to change their mind and expected me to give it back.

I am just confused. She gave them away to a pound in Mexico? Does this mean she went to Mexico with them? Why?

Or did she give them away not knowing they where going to end up in a Mexican pound? If they are still available, then why wouldn't you be able to get them back... I really think it is the pound that can answer these questions, not us.

I am 99% sure that they could. they do From Canada sll the time. However you are probably going to have to pay the pound and move fast. I don't think two cocker spaniel puppies are going to have long before they are adopted.

There is a big difference in Canadian and Mexican borders, they are much tighter on the Mexican border.

You are going to need to look up the US border patrol's laws and may even have to give them a call and explain the siduation.

Tighter about enforcement and checking incomming vehicles and paperwork, I understand, but the laws regarding the importation of animals I would think would be the same. Bringing a dog across the border here requires having up to date vaccination documentation, that is all.

Unless this is really a cockerspaniel costume with an illegal alien hiding inside, I don't see why it would be a problem, but I second contacting the proper authorites just to be sure.

I found this at https://www.dogfriendly.com/server/travel/info/customs/travelcustoms.shtml

U.S. visitors to Mexico may bring a dog or cat by presenting the following certificates at the border:

- a pet health certificate signed by a registered veterinarin in the United States and issued not more than 72 hours before the animal enters Mexico; and
- a pet vaccination certificate showing that the animal has been treated for rabies, hepatitis, pip and leptospirosis.

Certification by Mexican consular authorities is not required for the health or vaccination certificate. A permit fee is charged at the time of entry into Mexico.

Re: Mexican border

I_<3_cavies - please don't make multiple threads about the same topic; keep everything in the same place.

Texas is pretty stringent on letting animals into and out of it's border, due to the fact that the state is usually under rabies quarantine. The only way you're going to get any definite answers is if you contact the immigration department, who can then connect you to the people who deal with border issues and what can and cannot cross.

No my mom gave my dogs to a pound in texas but them the person that adopted them gave them to his friend and the friend took them to Mexico.

Sorry but if they were adopted then that's pretty much it.

Right or wrong, your family gave up the dogs. Someone else came forward to give them a home. Those dogs now belong to the new owner and you no longer have any rights to them nor do you have the right to even try to get them back.

They said we could have them back.

They who? The pound? The adopters?

The adopters.

How did you find out who the adopters were?

We went to the pound and requested it.
