For the last 2-3 weeks or more I have wanted to do a cage remodel. It will involve rearranging my entire bedroom (the pigs are currently in my room already) and moving the cage to another wall, ripping apart the entire loft structure and taking the main level expansion from where it is now and moving it to the side where it belongs. The redesigned cage will either be a 3x5 or 3x6 with upper level lofts.

I have some very creative ideas for the redesign. I got my dad to come over yesterday and do some grid cutting and grid bending and different other things. Now I just have to find a whole day to do the remodeling, because it will probably take at least an entire day to move furniture and rip apart and rebuild the cage. Once it's done, I will post pictures.

No PHB, I have had the bug for months. This will probably be the 6-7th remodel of the cage. But I think the design I have come up with this time will be pretty awesome.

I haven't been anywhere PHB. I missed one day the other day of coming online but have been here everyday since. Sorry we haven't chatted much, just been so incredibly tired this past week.

No problem as long as we're still cool. :) I've been on & off lately. I spent last night rearranging the living room which took about 3-4 hrs. Getting ready for the tree to be put up. This morning I cleaned the girls room and was up there for 3-4 hrs as well. I'm now heading down to my son's room to make room for a bed. I have to figure out how to fit it with the huge cage in place. Hubby comments that he's ready to pitch them out. Like he@# he will. Anyways, hopefully we can connect later. Talk to ya soon.

That *grid* cutting certainly is a bear.
Scott did the cutting and I did the filing on our's. The filing of the sharp edges on the grids took longer than the cutting. I think I got the short end of the stick. If it wasn't for my lack of strength in cutting those blasted grids, I should have taken that task. The edges are bugger hard to cut.

A 3 x 6 cage, WoW... that is going to be some *big* cage. Your piggies might have to invite you into their house for you to sleep. 'Big Grin'

I love having my boys in my bedroom.
Our 2 x 5, with loft, cage is just a "roll out of bed" close to my bed.

Anxious to see your design.

Today I started rearranging my room and am re-doing the piggers cage. I just took a short break to make dinner and eat and check the forums. I am about to go back to cleaning and building. My girls are a little mad at me at the moment because they are all stuck in a temporary 2x3. At least they are not fighting and all getting along well. I will try to take some pics later tonight when it's done. I really don't expect to be finished til very late.

Ly,

I can just hear your girls giving you the "what for".
"How dare you stick us in a 2x3 cage?"
"And your taking time for dinner? What's with that?" ... lol

I'm anxious for pictures. Bet it will be nice.

I got really tired just after 1 a.m. and had the cage mostly finished. The cage's main level is a 3x5.75, it's one grid shy of being a 3x6. If I had put the extra grid on there, I wouldn't have been able to get around to the other side of the cage into the alcove where my shelves now sit. So the 1x2 area on the left side is a potty area and will be filled with critter care. There are doors on the left side of the potty area that I can easily open to clean the potty without having to figure out how to get under the hayloft from the other side.

I absolutely love the new 2x2 hayloft but I am not sure how well I like the other loft. The loft on the right side of the cage is a corner 1x4 L shaped loft. I have a ramp coming from underneath it and a hole in the grid and coroplast for them to come up through and they have a half grid with a hole cut in it to take a catwalk across to the hayloft. I think it's the coroplast I don't like because it's two different pieces and two different colors. I think I am going to take that loft down and build a 1x3 half level loft and just run a ramp up to the hayloft.

The girls figured out the new layout pretty quick last night. Cherrybelle was the first up the ramp and across to the hayloft. Everyone figured it out easily except Moppy. I had to show her how to do it. It was funny this morning because they have this huge main level and where were 6 of the girls? 5 were up in the 1x4 loft snoozing and one of the other girls was in the hayloft. Finna had the entire main level to herself.

I have no pictures for you all because I am not happy with the cage yet. I think I have time to go re-build the right side loft today before I have to go work bingo. So I am off to build some more! I will take a pic of the right side loft as it is now so you all can see it before I tear it apart.

Sounds like a great cage! I can't wait to see pictures. My 6 girls are the exact same way. 4 or 5 of them will be in the hay loft or basement eating while the 1 or 2 others are sleeping in the huge main level. Silly piggers!

Can't wait to see pictures. I always like to change things up for them. Give them a different view of things. I also understand the piecing of different coroplast together with several different colors. My 2 2nd levels are a patch work of leftover coroplast. After the first of the year, I'm going to get another solid piece of yellow coroplast and make it all one color. ;)
