Need a funny favor

Ok I was using equine fresh for bedding when I realized that when it's wet, it turns to sawdust which is bad for the pigs. I told my parents who I still live with about this and they said if I want to change it, I have to get ten names who say it's bad on here for a petition (They are pretty silly). So I need 10 of you to just say you don't think I should use it to change it to something else! Hehe. Thanks in advance!

I don't think you should use it. Have you tried fleece, it works great for me?

Re: Need a funny favor

Yes that is what I'm trying to get them to let me use. I had it and loved it. They didn't like it because they didn't think the poops looked good on it. I told them I would spot clean.

Re: Need a funny favor

If your piggies are anything like Percy, they probably knock some of their food about and try to eat it off the bedding. If it turns to sawdust and they eat that, it could easily clump in their throats. Also seems like they could inhale some of it.

I haven't switched to fleece yet, but if you can afford it, I highly recommend a 1 or 2 gallon shop vac next to the cage. Mine has been great for spot cleaning, picking up kicked aspen, a few poops left on my bed when Percy was sitting there during cage cleaning, etc.

Re: Need a funny favor

If it turns to sawdust and dries them then it is dangerous for them to breathe it in.

Hey LuvMyPiggers' Mom and Dad...I'm a child raising adult so my vote counts for 2...hey I'm a moderator on here too...make it 3 votes! HA!

Go back to fleece if you liked it and have your parents buy you a rechargable dust buster....I love my dust buster for cleaning up the poops off the fleece.

Re: Need a funny favor

I used to use those pine pellets and I couldn't stand the way it turned into that powder. One of my pigs caught a URI a few times while I had that stuff, now with fleece, no URIs!

The saw-dust gets in their lungs and can cause medical problems....its time to change.

Re: Need a funny favor

We don't need piggies suffering major health problems because of sawdust now do we? My vote is for fleece. Dump the stuff that ends up sawdust. I get 3 votes too because I am a mother and a moderator here too.

Hehe. Thanks guys. I've convinced them. The only thing that stinks is that my ONLY option they are giving me is carefresh and it is such a mess and hurts my nose! Oh well better than them dieing..
