First Attempt

Hi all! I am so happy to be apart of this site and to gain all the knowledge I can.

With that said, I am attempting to make our piggies their first (and second cause I know I need at least 2) bedspreads.

Any suggestions on bedspreads would be greatly appreciated. Also, does any one know if it would be okay to use the fleece as the top layer, but instead of the Zorb stuff, use an adult bed pad?

Thanks!

Re: First Attempt

Are you asking if it is okay to use zorbees or other similar products as the top layer instead of fleece? If so the answer to that is no. Zorbs absorb liquids. Fleece allows it to seep through and then dries so that they aren't walking on wet fabric all day. Mattress pads can be used under the fleece.

Re: First Attempt

Here's a link to another thread where another member explained the process out. I haven't made any, as I haven't gotten my sewing machine yet, but would really like to. Good luck.

Re: First Attempt

No not replace the fleece. I want to replace the other 2 layers with a bed pad like the ones they use in nursing homes or hospitals.

Would this work?

Re: First Attempt

I use a piece of fleece cut to the size of the cage as the top layer, about two layers of towels for the middle layer and under the towels I use adult bed pads that I got from the ODC for 2 for $4.
Here's the link: Opportunity Development Centers.

I hold the fleece onto the sides of the coroplast with binder clips.

Re: First Attempt

I used the cotton rich mattress pad from Walmart. I was able to get two bedspreads out of it. We made a green and a purple bedspread and I sewed around the edges. I think it turned out pretty good.
