After realizing (from your site and not the pet store) that Cedar Shavings is a poor choice for bedding, I ran down and bought a bag of Aspen. I mixed the Aspen with the Cedar (aprox. 20% Cedar) and have it in a huge air tight tote in the garage. Then a smaller tote is filled form this and left in the grandsons bedroom. My concern is that when I was mixing the Aspen up the "dust" was unbelievable! Is Aspen suppose to be this dusty or should I get a different brand? Thanks in advance |

Cedar is toxic to pigs due to the phenols in it. It should never be used alone or in combination with any other bedding. You'd be better off using what shavings you've purchased as mulch or something and get some plain Aspen, kiln-dried pine, carefresh, Yesterday's News, etc. Don't use the mix of Aspen and Cedar. Any shaving type of bedding has the potential to be dusty. |
