Yes.. I guess you're lucky. I wouldn't advice anyone to do that though. You don't know what is there on these fabric when they're sitting on the store shelves. You should have at least wash it once before putting in the cage.

Just using towels isn't a good idea. The towels will remain wet and will start to smell. This is the reason for the fleece on top of the towels. If prepared correctly (washed 3-4 times without fabric softener before using) it will wick the moisture down to the towel level.
