Hi, I am thinking of changing to puppy pads for my underbedding, but I have a couple questions. Is it an expensive method? How often do you change the puppy pads? Are they reusable? How many do you need? Do they smell easily? Thanks! |

I use puppy pads under my fleece and one layer of towel on the main floor. I have a litter box and fleece pad with two towels on the top. The bottom floor isn't peed on near as much as the top and I find the pads last the whole week, sometimes two b/c they're not peed on, only pooped. (As I read this I wonder now if I even NEED the pads at all!) You do have to throw them out once they're soiled as they're thin (assuming you get the cheap disposable ones at Walmart). I paid about $13 for a package that has lasted me two months already. |

You can get eco-friendly, re-usable, washable refurbished pet pads from the Opportunity Development Center really cheap - a 2 pack for $4.00. The real benefit to this is that you are helping people with disabilities earn a paycheck. Here's the link: ODC Merchandise-Pet Pads. |

Those are a great idea! Too bad the shipping is $25.00 US not including duty and taxes to get it into Canada. |

Yes. They are expensive. But if you buy in bulk you'll save money. I clean the entire cage every 4-5 days. Depends on the size oof puppy pads and the cage. I don't find mine smell unless I put off cleaning the cage. I'm very happy with the results. |

I use the WalMart brand of incontinence pads under towels and fleece. The pads aren't thick enough to handle the job alone but they keep the coroplast clean and make cage cleaning easier. Anything that doesn't get swept or pick up from the towels and fleece ends up on the pads and they just get rolled up and pitched. The generics aren't expensive and, with regular cage cleaning, don't smell. |
