Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I found at the local supermarket wooden pellets (kitty litter). Just wondering if its ok to use for the piggies. Its not scented. I have looked high and low for carefresh and yesterdays news but it's only available to order online from the u.k. Last edited by princesspoppy; 09-29-09 at 02:36 pm. Reason: mis spelt word |

If it's unscented wooden pellets, it should be okay. Search this forum for Feline Pine, they should be the same. |

Are you wanting to use it for a litter tray or for the main cage? I plan to use fleece in my main cage but plan on using either Back2nature or Smart Cat litter in their 'kitchen' area. Or there are 100% cardboard litters - I don't know if you can get them in Ireland? Such as Ecobed, Walmsley Premierbed, Finacard etc. Or megazorb. All of these are safe. The best thing to do may be to ring around local horse suppliers or farms that sell horsey things as many of these sell suitable beddings. |

Fleece works great and it always available. Otherwise why don't you post what you have available and we can help you evaluate them. Ordering online is an option as well. |

It's for a litter try. I use fleece bedding. The only thing i see available is the wooden pellets or doggy training pads which cost a lot 18 Euro for 10 pads. Thats about $22. |

Do they have Megazorb anywhere? That's pretty similar... Also, Finacard is from the UK. I haven't used it, but Fudgenrolo mentioned it, I figured I'd give you a link. www.finacard.co.uk |

Oh i'm a happy piggie. I found a store online within Ireland who delivers and stocks carefresh. A little expensive but worth it. Happy mom and happy pigs. Thank you all for your help. |

The problem with wood pellets is that they break down into sawdust when wet. I tried Feline Pine once and ended up hating it. I think when dealing with fleece, recycled paper products are probably better. They are easier to clean off fleece. |

PP you may also look to see if you have recycled newspaper pellets in the cat litter department. Here there is a brand called Yesterday's News (as well as several other brands available) I use it and its SOOO much easier than even carefresh. Carefresh has a tendency to track out onto your fleece, where as the paper pellets dont. Just a thought |
