Re: How are you suppossed to do this?

I did a search for pet hair filter bags and came across a website that sells them. So maybe if you did a search you might find a place close by that sells them?

I NEVER go outside to shake my fleeces. This is what I do:

Vacuum up as much mess as I can, brush over it with a rubber brush used for fur removal. Despose of fur ball. Wash.

It seems to be working out pretty well for me.

I do have laminate floor in my pet room though so I can just sweep up whatever comes off which you may not be able to do if you have carpet.

I wash the fleece inside a pet hair filter bag though to keep my washing machine hair free though you could stick it inside a pillowcase and wash it in that which works in the same way.
That is a great idea about the pillow case. My boyfriend was just complaining about hair all over the washer, etc-so that may work perfectly. I try to get as much of it as I can off-but its impossible to get it all. Great Idea!!

I also can shake it onto the floor and sweep it up as the floor is hard and smooth and easy to clean.

Re: How are you suppossed to do this?

Like what a few other people said, I usually just gently shake the stuff off the fleece on top of the foam core and shower curtain (or coroplast, if you use that) and then sweep it up. You can't vigorously shake it, but it still works.

If you have a bath tub (or I suppose a shower stall would work too), you could cover the drain and shake the fleece off in there too, and then sweep up, just like sweeping up in the cage.

I find that shaking in the cage and then taking the fleece into the bathroom and using a firm bristled brush while holding the fleece against the wide edge of the tub seems to get a lot of hair and stray hay off the fleece. The poops and most of the hay and hair come off when I shake above the cage, so it's not too much work to brush it off.

The idea about the pillow case/pet hair bag is a GREAT idea and I'm going to start doing that!! Thanks!

Re: How are you suppossed to do this?

Use a washable lint roller. That is what I'm using right now and it works best for me. It makes my job easier because you might take hours to shake off everything.
