Yes, you can use a mattress pad with fleece and sew them together. Depending on your pigs and the size of your cage, you may want another underlayer. |

Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I was thinking about the cage attachment problem, took a look at the bedspreads site, and got out a sheet of paper to do a little visual geometry, as I am better at math than sewing on most days. So here's the conclusion I came up with. It won't require a degree in Home Econ, just a little bit of math, a sewing machine, and a square. First, obviously, measure the inside dimensions of your coroplast (x and y) and the height of the walls (h). Add 1 1/2-2" to the wall height, and add this to the dimensions so that the dimensions = (x + h + 2)" by (y + h + 2)" Take the h + 2 measurement from each side at the corners so that you have a square section and cut just inside this to leave room for a seam (usually 3/8 of an inch). At this point, if you would like to sew your towels, mattress pads or what have you, this would be the time to do it. Place the two cut edges together and sew. For an easier fold, press the seam open and sew across the top with a zig-zag stitch. By the end of this, you will have a box-shaped piece of fabric. Once the sewing is complete, you should be able to easily place your project inside the coroplast with the seams facing out. Then fold down the corners to overlap on the outside. This will guard the corners against curious burrowing piggies and keep all the poo in an easy to vaccum space on top of the fleece.I hope the math did not make you crazy, and if you have any questions about the sewing or if I have made some horrible mathematical error, please let me know. |

It depends on the mattress pad. They are highly variable. |

X + 2(h+3) by y + 2(h+3) There are two corrections here. one is that you need to allow for the walls on two sides, the other is that I found three inches are better. Measure a square of h+3 on each corner, then sew. Hope that helps! |

I use a top layer of fleece sewn to a thick mattress pad and it works great! Just make sure that you wash the fleece a few times before you use it as it works better! I love my fleece liners! |

Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I love the fleece idea, but I am not sure on what you have to do. Do you wash the mattress pad and the fleece together? How are you sure the germs from urine and poop aren't contaminating the washer? Please give me the lowdown on fleeces!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Read the fleece project sticky in the bedding section. It will answer all your questions. |
