I Love the concept, and I've read some later posts about them. I understand that they are great and I'd love to contribute to a fello Piggy lover, however... They're pricey, and I'd Love to see how you guys put things such as fleece and bed pads together, what is the best way and what ways have you found to be difficult, I know one way for some people is easier for them than other people. I'm just trying to find the best way for myself, with a little help from fellow Piggy lovers. Any tips or tricks would help me!! thanks in advance! |

I'm not sure if you mean sewing them together or just using them in general. So my answer is, I lay down a mattress pad (that I got at the Goodwill for $3), put about 3 layers of towels or so over that, put a piece of fleece over that and clip it around the cage with white plastic clips that I got in the kitchen section of Bed Bath and Beyond. I cut little slit-like holes about every 1.5 cubes along the bottom of the coro and clip it from the outside in. I have burrowing pigs and this has worked best for me |

It wouldn't be that hard to make the piggie bedspreads. Get a cotton mattress pad frm walmart or a thrift store if there is onr near you for the bottom layer cut to size of cage, middle layer is optional a heavy cotton blanket or cotton batting (hard to find in store)also cut size of cage then take the fleece and cut it about 1/2-2 inches bigger than the cage then lay the fleece down flat add middle layer add last layer then fold the fleece ends over pin to stay in place and sew it together. If you want to cover the side walls too, if your side walls are 3inches then you want to cut atleast 10 inches of fleece for each side and take the four strips that are size of each side unpin one side of the fleece that you already pined together unfold the the fleece lay the strip off fleece down and fold the the one fleece side over this and pin it back and sew this side righ away then repeat for each side. When finnished with each side then sew each cornner together from underneath not the visable out side area Then put in your cage and it should be a nice snug fit. If you have a 6 ich side walls then cut each side 16 inches. basically math wise it is size of your side walls x2 + 4. |

The idea of Piggy Bedspreads is really nice and I'm glad that the owner is making a great business out of it, however, I think that it's pretty pricey for something your pigs will just poop on. I mean, I can make one at home if I wanted to. If you really love your piggies as your children and if you are willing to sacrifice that for them, or if you are not such a good craftsperson, then this is a good choice for you. I would definitely buy it if it was a bit cheaper, but I have decided to just go the simpler way with the fleece. |

Yeah I've been really thinking about it, but since i live in a SMALL apartment I'm trying to save as much space as possible and I would end up having to Hang sew everything together and I am not too hip on the idea, However, I'm not hip on spending a lot for something to poo on... |

She also make just the fleece cover so you can put your own mattress pad and towels under it and then her fleece fits snugly over the coroplast so it looks neat. It is a bit cheaper that way, |

I have a set of the piggy bed spreads and I actually LOVE them! It was difficult to figure out how to expand my cage (to a 2X5) using them since they actually fit over the sides of the coroplast. But if you have a 2X3 or a 2X4 they are perfect. I am not crafty at ALL, and the extent of my sewing skills peaked in the 7th grade when I made a pin cushion. And I honestly didn't feel like taking the time to run around town and get all the materials for the fleece bedding. So in all, it just depends on how lazy you are! They may be a little pricey, but for the lazy person, the benefits outweigh the cost. Plus they are really well made and Martha (the woman who makes them) is extremely nice! /steps off soapbox |
