Just changed!

I just finished putting my fleece in the cage! My four piggles LOVE it, they were popcorning like mad! Anyway.. i have one question, will it stink in 1-2 days? My parents STRONGLY belive that this will never work because it will smell horibble in about a day.But they still let me put it in (there nice ! Is this true? I didn't think so, i thought i took between 4-5 day's,then you should clean it. But we both wanted confirmation. And any onther tip 'n tricks would be appriceated!

Re: Just changed!

As long as it's done right and your cage is the proper size and you spot clean it twice a day it really shouldn't smell. I clean mine on day 7 usually. I used to do it on day 6 but I can go an extra day with no problem. I have 2 piggies in a 3x4, but when I add my third piggie I may have to clean it more often but I don't forsee an odor problem. The only thing I smell is hay.

You have towels or something underneath the fleece, right?

Re: Just changed!

If you sweep up the poops every day it shouldn't stink like the bedding stuff does. I change out my fleece about once a week and sweep it 1-2 times a day and I have 5 piggies and I don't have the stinky piggie smell that I used to have before changing to fleece. For absorbancy I use blankets instead of towels and tuck the fleece around it, I have also used flannel fabric rapped around the blanket (I like the flannel better it doesn't go all fuzzy after sweeping it's also easy to sweep). I have made actual bedding pads that fit the cage it self. You would do it like you were makeing a comforter for a bed but make it a little thicker for absorbancy.

Re: Just changed!

You don't need 2 layers of fleece just 1 layer.
