I bought some vetbed from bunny bazaar and it arrived today. I couldn't believe it when I opened it up and saw how soft and plush it is! It is so soft I couldn't stop stroking it and I'm seriously considering buying some for my own bed, and my dog's bed. I have also bought some fleece to lay on top of the Vetbed, but I'm beginning to wonder if that is necessary? With the Vetbed being so soft and all. Also, for their hidy holes, I was thinking to keep them warm, of maybe lining the sides with left over vetbed after cutting it to size? What do you do with/How do you use your vetbed? (I'm loving it) |

Ok, I now have a question. They way I sort my piggies cage out is, a thick layer of newspaper, then the vetbed, then a layer of fleece. They absolutely loved this combination until hay got everywhere. Now they keep trying to scratch up the fleece and chew the furryness off the vetbed. I've stopped them from doing this because I'm not sure vetbed fluff is going to be great for their digestive system... Can anyone tell me why they might be doing this? Do they dislike the fleece now? |

They just might be burrowers. I had one pig that would do anything in her power to get under the fleece, not because she didn't like the fleece, but because she LOVED it and wanted to be in her own little fleece club house. I solved this by making bigger fleece cuts and using binder clips to attach the fleece tot he sides of the coroplast. I gave her a little fleece tunnel though, so she could still have her club house. |

Thank you. I've just left them to it. They have a huge tunnel and a hidey house but if thats what they want, who am I to stop them. They are training me well. I don't mind as long as they aren't eating the vetbed... Thank you for getting back to me. I'm getting to the end of my teather with worrying. I think I'm just over worrying because I'm new to looking after guinea pigs and over thinking things! But now I think they have mites! |

Mites are easily solved, even on small piggies- get yourself down to pets at home- they do ready mixed ivermectin, in easy to dispense little tubes. No mixing or weighing it out, just weigh your pig and use the right amount of tubes, if your pigs are small you may want to get the pack for hamsters and gerbils, it's the same, just smaller tubes. Also- you will need to throughly wash the vet bed and fleece etc! |

Thank you Jenniwat001 Ly&Pigs has mentioned in my mite thread that it is probably not mites because they are microscopic so what I saw must be something else. I will give then another thorough clean out after I've sorted out whats going on. I'm pretty sure they aren't eating the vetbed now. I still thoroughly recommend vetbed because it keeps the odors to a minimum too! |

I got mine from bunny bazaar Vet Bed Medium from Bunny Bazaar - UK Pet Supplies for Small Animals I clean it once a week and change the fleece every 2 days since it gets ots of hay and things stuck to it. Quite expensive but it saves in the long run! |
