Bedding question?

I have been using a combo of carefresh and yesterday's news for my girls. Last cage change I switched from carefresh to the kaytee cozy comfort, which is like carefresh but softer. My question is the targets by me only seem to carry 1 bag of the yesterday's news at a time, and it's getting harder and harder to find. Could I use a wheat pellet instead of the yesterday's news? I see it's compared to the yesterday's news, and honestly it's a bit cheaper anyway. I can get twice as much for the price of a 20lb bag of the yesterday's news.

Here's the link to the wheat pellet. It's gluten, chemical and clay free. And is supposed to absorb very well.

I usually mix the two beddings together. So I get the absorbency and odor control of the pellets, but the cozy comfort then makes it soft and comfortable for them to run across. Plus it doesn't fly out of the cage like just using a pellet or shavings.

Oh well nevermind this company. I just saw where they offer discounts to breeders and nothing about rescues. I sent them an e-mail asking why that was and I'll see what their response is. But if I were to find a wheat litter like this with a better company what do you think?

Re: Bedding question?

Someone asked this same question very recently here. You can't use anything that clumps because if the pig eats it, it will possibly clump inside the guinea pig, and kill him/her.

Re: Bedding question?

I use a pine pellet cat litter along with shredded paper for my guinea pigs litter box. The pine pellet is 100% pine and it absorbs well and doesn't smell. It's maybe 11 dollars for the kind we get and its a 20lb bag but lasts us weeks.
