So I was thinking of making a little hay area for my piggies for them to play in the hay instead of only using a hay rack. If I do this, how often should I change the hay? Also, do people who use hay as bedding have a lot of problems with eye injuries because of the hay? I've already had to deal with that once this week. If I do this, I will probably use orchard grass because it's softer. And I suppose I would have to buy mass amounts because it gets soiled so much? |

Hay doesn't make a good bedding. It doesn't absorb. It would have to be changed every couple of days. If you are talking about making just a hay area in the cage then that's ok but you still have to change the hay out every couple of days as the pigs will lay in it, pee and poo on it while eating it. I used to have a hay room as part of my cage. |
