Need some advice!

I've recently switched over to using fleece and providing a "kitchen" area for my boar "Max" but need a better bedding solution than the Aspen that I am using for litter. He is awesome at running to his kitchen to pee - and tends to pee where he eats anyway - but being a long-haired breed, he is tracking wood chips out all over his fleece. ARGHHHH! Needless to say, it's impossible to keep the fleece free of wood chips which stick like velcro to it! Does anyone know if something like Carefresh is easier to sweep up off the fleece?

I might have to use fleece and puppy pads for that area as I would need something absorbant to keep the mess and odor down. He is hilarious running from his cuddle bed to the litter and then racing back and diving into his cuddle again!

I definitely don't regret switching to the fleece though! He seems to be much happier running like a demon on it and popcorns a lot more now.

Re: Need some advice!

I use Yesterday's news in my kitchen areas, and I love it. It is very absorbent, keeps the odors down, and is heavy, so I don't find it on the fleece. My pigs have to go over a little brick step to get from the kitchen to the fleece, and the YN never makes it over. Just make sure you get the unscented kind.

Re: Need some advice!

Well, I took your advice and gave Yesterday's News a try and now I am sold! It works wonderfully and doesn't cling to Max's fur and what little gets kicked out is easily swept up. It also works wonders on absorbing piddles and there is no odor even after three days of use. Thanks again for the idea Fairysari you saved my sanity!

Re: Need some advice!

No odor!! you bet that is #1 on my list. We use YN here in the litter box but I top it with a layer of shavings. My guys have to climb over a fiddlestick and I have little to no issue about tracking shavings about.

Re: Need some advice!

I prefer Yesterday's News for my two smelly Boars. For disposal, I mulch around my bushes and flowers. I scoop out the wet areas once or twice a week in between full cleanings.
