Does anyone know if an old bed comforter would work okay instead of towels under fleece? When I recieve my fleece from Slap I'm probably going to be so broke, and I don't have a whole bunch of extra towels. But I have 2 old comforters with like hockey teams on it that I'm not exactly going to need anytime soon. Thanks a alot! |

Well, the terry is more absorbant & less "bulky" that's why they're used. But the comforters ought to work alright. You might not be able to use them again on the bed though. |

. Try them out and see how they work. Or test them by putting some fleece over it and pouring water on the fleece to see if it absorbs the water. |

LOL ewww I didn't realize how I worded that. I won't be using them at all... I'll probably throw them out if I don't use them for this. That's a good idea for testing it. |

If the comforter is made of cotton, it should be fine, but if it's just a cotton shell on a polyester fill, it won't really be all the absorbant. The towels I use under my fleece came from the thrift store. |

I use a quilt that my gramma got as a gift but didn't like. She gave it to us and now it's the piggies. I'm not sure what the filling is, but it works really nicely. The cage can go for a week to 10 days with out having to wash it. Of course the fleece still needs spot cleaning. I like it a little bit more than towels because it's just one layer to take out instead of bunches of towels. |

Target has some pretty cheap towels. Like 3 bucks for a towel (they are the colored plain ones stacked up against the shelf (not in the aisles)) I got 5 of those and one big bath sheet that was 7 dollars. You may not need so many towels, but I like the extra padding :-) |

I use comforters under my fleece and it works pretty well, it is really comfy, they are old ones from my brother when he was younger. |

Sadly, there is no Target where I live and truth be told, the only reason I know it exsists is because of everyone on here talking about it! Sigh, I do have Walmart, but everytime towels go on sale I get selfish and buy a bunch in my favourite colours. |
