    Banksia pods safe to chew?

    Hi there,

I've heard that Guinea Pigs love to chew on pine cones. I've collected some knarly Banksia seed pods that I'm thinking would be similar in appeal, are they safe for the piggies to chew on do you think? I thought I might bake them for a bit first to kill any bugs etc.

Hey fellow sydney sider! I just found this site: Guinea Pigs Australia - Cage Accessories around half way down the page they say:

Pine cones should always be heated at 200 degrees in the oven on foil for 20-30 minutes to sterile them. You can file down any sharp ends with scissors or a nail file.

Sorry it took a while to get to you. If you have anymore concerns that website is fantastic. (and you can always ask me )
