Pigger Furnishings

Hey all,

This thread is just about what sorts of toys and beds and anything really that you put inside your piggers' hutch for them to play with..

O.K.
So at the moment, I use:
- Empty tissue boxes with a couple of holes in them for easy access. Its cheap and easy to replace.
- Socks filled with bedding (sewn up at one end) - toy
- Empty toilet rolls (with a slit down one side so a curious pigger wont get stuck) - toy
- Crumpled up bits of plain paper - toy
- And a new addition, beanies... I read on here that someone has a male pigger that popcorns around his beanie, then humps it . And my grandma does alot of knitting and loves to feel useful, so I asked her to knit me a few beanies. I gave them to the piggers yesterday and they LOVE them... They make very good soft warm places to hide and sleep.

You may want to try this stuffed with hay instead of bedding. If they should pull or chew a hole in the sock, it won't be harmful to your pigs if they eat any hay they pull out.

Re: Pigger Furnishings

shermn your piggies are adorable! I think I should try the beanie thing. Oh and my piggies love the hay in the sock toy! They don't stop until all the hay is gone.

My uncle makes hand crafted fantasy toys, and he has a guinea pig pattern, so I am going to ask him to make me some pig fluffy guinea pig toys for my little piggers to cuddle into..
Oh I also bought a cozy, atleast i think its called a cozy...

Would you call that a cozy? Or something else????

And thank-you heatherbunnie. It's good to hear that your piggers like playing with the socks.

Re: Pigger Furnishings

my piggies currently have:
toilet rolls [with a slit down the side] stuffed with lucerne
paper bags - they absolutely love running in and out of them!
fruit tree leaves - they get carried around like flags
masses of cardboard boxes - little pigs can be really quite strong i've discovered
and of course each other - company is probably the best form of entertainment money can buy a little piggy

Re: Pigger Furnishings

just as curiosity, will the beanie get very stinky as they do their business in there? if it's a hand-knitted one, is it washable?

sorry for the questions but i wanna give my piggie one...

Re: Pigger Furnishings

I swap their toys around so that they do not loose interest and also because they are curious creatures my theory is that by switching the toys around they get entertained:
- Cuddle cup
- Paper bag stuffed with hay
- Toilet roll stuffed with hay
- Castle (like and igloo but with 2 entry points)
- 4 inch diameter PVC pipe

Re: Pigger Furnishings

To add to the girls toys, they now also have a Cuddle sack and a fleece pillow, both which I made myself, for them to enjoy! I also renovated their cage, which has given them some new things to explore.
