| three babies need good homes I live in CT and I am trying to find homes for three baby guinea pigs that were born on Sept 1. I was sold a pregnant guinea pig and can only keep one of the four babies. I don't want to bring them to a pet shop and I'm hoping to find them good homes. They are so young that I can't sex them yet, but I am trying. |

| Re: three babies need good homes They should not be seperated from the mother untill they are 3 weeks of age! Make sure that you take the male (if there are any), out right at 21 days of age! He can impregnant the mother at that age. Visit:http://www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm The pictures are so good on this web site, they really help. I was able to tell what my babies were within 24 hours of them being born. Good luck!! :0) |

| Re: three babies need good homes I live in Marlborough CT (20 mins.) from Hartford. The babies would be ready to leave their mom by Nov. 1. There are two really cute girls that we call "the twins". They are both orange and white. My five year old daughter and I handle them every day and they are very friendly and sweet. I'd love to see them go to a loving place. |

| Re: three babies need good homes I'm sorry. The babies will be one month old on Oct 1, not Nov. 1. |

| Re: three babies need good homes What age are the kids in your classroom. Don't be surprised if you don't get alot of support for piggies in a classroom. Too many horror stories and piggies don't like to be poked at and screamed at by little kids all day long. Also, will the principle allow you the space requirements given for a cage on this site. Keep in mind that the cage must open on the sides for ventilation. That makes them easy targets for kids to poke at. I would not recommend taking piggies for any classroom. Sorry. Quote:

| Re: three babies need good homes you say here one month old. Are you going to seperate the male at three weeks? Four weeks is too late! :0) Quote:

| Re: three babies need good homes REALLY bad idea! You should not have prey animals as classroom pets. It is too stressful for them. Plus two pigs need 2x3 minumum cage space. Quote:

| Re: three babies need good homes TO Critter Connect, Shouldn't I attempt to find homes for the babies before handing them over to a rescue? Do you think you'd have better luck finding them good homes? WE love our mom pig (Rose) and we are keeping a cage mate for her. I wish I would have rescued a pig instead of buying a pregnant one from a pet shop. We have learned so much. They are living in a C&C cage now and everyone is happy. Five pigs is a lot for me right now. The babies will not go to a pet shop and I would have kept them all if I had to. Thanks for your help. |

| Re: three babies need good homes Awww...I wish I was closer to CT. I'd love a little baby boy. You mentioned that you have "the twins", your 2 orange and white girls. What do the other girl and the baby boy look like? |

| Re: three babies need good homes I was just offering you an option if you can't find a home for the babies. They would have more exposure, the new home would be thoroughly checked out and they would have to sign a contract (the adopters) . If you want, I can post them on my website. All you need to do is send me a couple of photos of them. Careful with the grids on the C&C cage and the babies. They can fit their heads through the squares and hang themselves. |

| Re: three babies need good homes Thanks. I baby-proofed the cage by making the sides higher. Thanks so much for your help. I'll see how the next week goes (with finding homes) and I'll be in touch. |

| Re: three babies need good homes 2x4 is preferred. 2x3 is the the actual size listed for 2 cavies on cavycages.com. I would say 2x4, but I am too technical. I had to list the cage size that is listed on the web site! Read this thread: http://cavycages.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9454 Quote:
