Piggy Wanted in Central Florida

Hello Everyone,
As you may know, we decided to keep Jasmine! Now we are looking for a friend for her. We live in Central Florida and we can drive to meet you.

I went to a 'Rescue' today that was sooooo bad. The cages were stacked on top of each other. The piggies had no bedding--just newspaper on wire bottom cages. They didn't have any hay and there were three of them in a 1 1/2 cage! I wanted to help them out, but I was too worried about disease, illness, mites, etc. She had dogs in tiny cages, cats jumping and running all around and the place smelled strongly of amonia- urine? What filth! And her 10 or 11 year old son was the one cleaning the cages. It cant be healthy for him to live in a place that smelled that way.

We also went to the Animal Shelter. They did have 3 girls but they were all pregnant. So, we are still looking for a sweet little girl piggie. If you know of one, let us know .

First thing you need to do is report the neglect and abuse at the "rescue". Do this through the local ASPCA. That should be first priority.

Next, look on www.petfinder.com, www.cavyrescue.com, and www.gpan.net for homeless pigs. There is sure to be one in your area!

When I was living in Hollywood I drove 5 hours to Gainesville to adopt my little RainStorm - she was definitely worth the 10 hour round trip, though! ;~) Wjere there is a will, there is a way. Keep us posted!

I will keep you posted and I am working on figuring out the picture upload. I have e-mailed PigTales and I think we are going to work something out with the help of babyhippie (thank you sooo much).

I figured if Pig Tales meets me partway & I meet you partway, no one will have to drive too far to make it work out. I know she just rescued 6 new pigs today & needs to place some of them, so I'm glad to help if I can.

We are discussing which piggy/piggies would be best and I will post our decision.

As I told Pig Tales: My husband was done with two kids--then we had 3 .
My husband was done with 5 piggies. Then we were given Jasmine. He has agreed to let her stay here, build a bigger cage and find a friend or friends . He is turning into a Cavy Slave like me .

Hello Everyone,

We are getting Twiggy and Kate! Their names will probably end up being Ariel and Belle or some other beautiful princess name like Jasmine. We are going to exchange the two piggies for two pregnant ones from the shelter here...wish me luck on springing them tomorrow.

Good luck! I am proud of you for getting the preg pigs from the shelter and bringing them to the rescue! That way no one will get the babies and feed them to snakes! :0)

Hope you are able to get them out of there!

I am planning on getting your new sows from Pig Tales on Friday afternoon and then I can "trade" them for your pregnant sows from the rescue either late Friday or early Saturday. Saturday afternoon I can bring the rescue sows up towards Pig Tales if that works for everyone.

We can try and finalize things Thursday and figure out times, places to meet & all that.
