Would like to adopt a male to befriend my male Rocky. Rocky is red and white, with a wonderful personality. Sadly, he has been alone in a store bought cage for most of his little life (and I don't know how old he is). Adopted him from an area shelter and now would like to find him a friend. We have a 2x4 C&C cage, chew sticks, hay rack filled with timothy hay, and tons of pellets and yogurt treats. Igloos and boxes abound in this little oasis. My pets include: 1 husband (for 11 yrs), 1 son (6 yrs), 2 dogs (6 & 4 yrs), 3 turtles (4 months), and 15 fish (8 months). As you can see we can provide a new baby with a loving and stable home. Thank you for your consideration. Poodles |

Those yogurt drops are very bad for guinea pigs. Good luck in finding him a friend. Try www.petfinder.com, www.gpan.net, www.cavyrescue.com, and www.craigslist.com (avoid breeders) |

Don't you hate it when you think you are doing a good thing, and it turns out you were wrong?? Will stop with the yogurt drops, he did not like them anyway. Wonder if watermelon is bad for them? He likes that. Have applied to a local rescue tonight. Thank you Slap Maxwell for the other links! |

Watermellon is fine- as are other fruits- but they need to be limited to three days a week. The best care site is www.guinealynx.com, esspecially the nutrition page. Good luck with your adoption! |

Mine especially love the watermelon rind, organic is best, though, to avoid pesticides . . . |

Looks like I should just give him a bite of everything fresh we eat. That way he will be happy and have variety. Thanks for all the links. If you know of a piggy needing a home in TX, please let me know. |

Good luck with locating a friend for Rocky. I too live in Plano. Have you applied to Texas Rustlers? |

Yes Furkidsmommy, did that tonight too. Even put a pets wanted ad on petfinder. Want to avoid the pet shops. Think I will call the local shelters tomorrow too. They seem to always list cats and dogs, but they often have others (like my Rocky at the Allen Shelter). Hopefully, I can find him a friend soon. He seems awfully lonely, hiding in his igloo alone. |

I highly reccomend Texas Rustlers. I used to help with the rescue and all my piggies came through them. the good thing is that they will help pick a piggy out to match your piggies personality. They have supplies available also. |

Well I have a new piggie! His name is Willis and he is getting along fine with Rocky. The Texas Rustler Guinea Pig rescue is a great place to go! |

He is doing rather well. Gets along with Rocky, and is not afraid of the dogs! I am very happy for Rocky. He needed a good friend... and I guess Willis did too. |
