Ohio Cavies - Ready & Waiting for You!

Located in North East Ohio in the Akron area, we've got many piggies waiting to find a nice home for the rest of their lives. We also offer Cubes & Coroplast cages for sale with adoptions or to upgrade your current pets to a stylish cavy castle. Educational and other fun events are scheduled occasionally as time permits, contact us if you are interested in having us to a rescue oriented event, educational program or if you'd like more information on upcoming events that the rescue has planned. http://www.ohiocavies.petfinder.org

Now Available:

Pistachio & Ralphie are a great pair of boars that get along nicely. Pistachio is outgoing and friendly, always at the door of his cage to greet you. Ralphie is a bit more reserved, but still friendly and willing to sit and relax in your lap.

Willow & Violetare most likely sisters, they came in together from one of the local humane societies back at the end of October 2004. Willow has proven to be a very outgoing and social lady while Violet is shy and somewhat scared. Violet is also in the process of being checked for heart problems due to reoccurring URI-like symptoms that she's had on and off since coming to the rescue. If she turns out to require daily medications, she may remain at the rescue as a sanctuary pig or be offered for adoption to a family who is familiar with the needs of a pig on heart medications and has a veterinarian skilled to continue follow-up treatments.

Hank & Meatball are a great pair of boys that just melt our hearts! Hank is a big squishy guy at just over 3 pounds and Meatball has the cutest little checker board pattern on his back! These two boys get along great so we'd love for them to go home together.

Veeta, Creamsicle, Sophia & Coral are a wonderful group of four ladies that live together. While they all get along, they don't all have to go home together even though it would be nice to see! Veeta has a hard time with introductions with other guinea pigs, so we would definatly prefer she stay with one of her roomates when she goes to a new home. Creamsicle is a lovely lady who adores her two baby girls, Sophia and Coral. Coral and Sophia and cry babies, but what do you expect from spoiled rotten babies?

Doris & Emma are a lovely mother/daughter pair that get along great and would like to go to a new home together. Emma is really pretty, looks like she was dipped in caramel. Doris can be shy at first, but warms up quickly once she feels safe.

Rusty & Randy are a bonded pair of boys that would like to go home together. Rusty is a laid back squishy boar that likes to sit and relax on your lap. Randy is a playful young adult that likes to get Rusty to run laps around the cage with him.

Bo & Farkus are a newly introduced boarly pair! They get along fairly well and we think they are a super duo of boys that should go home together!

Woody & Buzz are a pair of brothers that are just now entering the teenage phase. They have their moments when they disagree, but we think they will grow through the phase well and become great friends!

BoPeep & Sweet Potato Pie are a lovely pair of young ladies(two on the right!) that would like to find a new home together. BoPeep can be a little hard headed when meeting new guinea pigs, so we'd rather her stay with Sweet Potato Pie since they get along so nicely!

Ruthie, Dora, Ember & Kindle are another group of 4 ladies that live together at the rescue. Dora is the mother of Kindle and Ember and Ruthie is an adopted member of their family. All four get along nicely, we'd like to see them go home as pairs or if you are up to an instant family of four, they can go together!

[[Ember has been adopted since the creation of this post several days ago]]

Ferris & Julian are a pair of very bonded and comical brothers! They love to run laps together and rumble around in circles together. Julian is our beautiful eye boy who endured laser eye surgery at only 15 days old, he's all fixed and has had no other problems for the last 5 months since his surgery. Ferris is very outgoing, and handsome too! Both boys must stay together!

Penny & Raspberry are a pair of ladies that really like each other. Penny is still very shy of humans, but we think she'll do fine once she's in a nice new home and finally able to adjust to the easy life. Raspberry is a gentle pig who likes lap time. Both of them enjoy tipping pigloo's and eating hay.

Max & Martin are a pair of handsome brothers who are a little shy, but much improved since their first days at the rescue. They love to run laps and hide under their hidey house together.

Boots & Soot are a pair of handsome twin brothers that get along nicely! There are some slight differences between the two that you'll notice once you get to know the two little playful guys!

Ginger came to the rescue as a very scared little lady. She's gotten much better, but she's still very shy. She hasn't been very accepting to a friend, so she's currently still living solo. She's soon to be spayed in hopes of finding her a boarly boar that will put up with her diva-like attitude!

Lastly is Patrick! Not available for adoption due to his many special needs, but he likes to have his picture posted and make sure to warn everyone that breeding guinea pigs is no fun! Sometimes breeding makes guinea pigs like him who are blind, deaf and have funny teeth that have to be fixed by the doctor very frequently. He says it's no fun and wishes that his mom's previous owners and other people like them would have been more educated so guinea pigs like him wouldn't have to live such hard lives. Instead of making more baby guinea pigs, he wants everyone to adopt his friends that are in the rescue that are healthy and ready for a new home!

Re: Ohio Cavies - Ready & Waiting for You!

I also wish I was closer, but maybe it is better I'm not. I am thankful there are people like you out there who are willing to make sure these innocent little critters get the proper care. I have done fostering, but they usually come to me in healthy condition - I just try to get them to trust humans and to interact with other pigs which is very rewarding. I did adopt a disabled pig last year and she has done terrific - better than the rescue ever thought she would. I taught her how to pull herself up a ramp - she saw the others doing it and I didn't want her to feel left out. She lives with my other 3 and they all get along great.

Re: Ohio Cavies - Ready & Waiting for You!

I can't look at enough pictures of these little guys. One is more adorable than the next. I can't imagine someone abandoning something with a face like any of those guys. Good luck on your placements. Hopefully each and every one of them will go to a loving home.

Re: Ohio Cavies - Ready & Waiting for You!

Oh I wish I lived closer but then again maybe its good that I don't. I could take them all but I'd really like to adopt Creamsicle, Cora & Sophia. That would give me an even 6. Of course, my husband would strangle me and then who'd take care of them. *LOL* Good luck!!
