Star 4 guinea pigs need a temporary new home asap Asheville N.C.

Hello everyone.

Due to some extremely unfortunate circumstances, I really need to find a TEMPORARY "guinea pig sitter" ASAP.

There are 4 guinea pigs, all unspayed females. Their names are Ginger, Opal, Noel, and Lily.

Please send me a private message (PM) for further details (such as my contact info). I don't have any pictures of any of them on the computer I'm on now, but if you would please just inquire about pictures, I will send them to you.

There are going to be some terms here, naturally.

This is a temporary piggie-sitting that I am looking for. I will be picking them up when I am ready, and more details about how long you'll have them for will be given when you send me a PM. They will still be MY guinea pig companions, not yours. You will simply be "piggie sitting" them for me.

My name is Katelyn.

Thanks SO much for considering helping me out here.

It's more than pigsitting if it's going to go on for an indefinite amount of time. Are you planning to offer any money to the person or persons who might agree to this arrangement? A cage? Other necessary supplies?

Just some things you might want to consider, especially since what you're asking someone to do for you is a rather tall order.

Re: 4 guinea pigs need a temporary new home asap Asheville N.C.

I don't have time at the moment to go into detail. I said I would if inquires were made, thus proving the person is truly interested. Please read more carefully, and don't jump the guns.

I will give everything the piggies currently have including cage/veggies/everything, and I will pay for anything they need to buy them, including vet visit if necessary.

And again, you neglected to read my post thouroughly. I clearly said please contact me for further details. I said that in the guinea pig home listing too. I want to speak with the person PRIVATELY, so the whole world cannot see what I'm saying.

It is VERY personal, and private, and it is none of ANYONE's business, unless they are interested in pig sitting them for me.

In other words, I will tell them how long they would be babysitting them for. It is NOT an indefinete amount of time. I have a set time, and you nor anyone else gets to see it unless they are wanting to babysit them.

Oh, modifying my post because i didn't read the entire title since it didn't display on my screen...

But having a cage size or something might help cut down on responses to wade through, since you don't have a lot of time.

I did read it thoroughly, dear. I suggested that what you're asking is slightly unreasonable and prompted you to provide more information about what you're willing to provide since you are asking someone else to take them into their home, not the reasons for which you need them to be temporarily relocated. I really couldn't care less.

THIS is the kind of information that's good to have. And I think you'd be a little more likely to be successful in this endeavor if you provide the most basic of details, not personal details, but things like whether you're asking someone to keep them a month or a year would probably be beneficial for you.

Saying "you'll get them when you get them and I'll pick them up when I want to" isn't really something that's going to encourage people to help with what you're asking help with.

I just want to mention that anything anyone posts on this forum, in their profile, on blogs, in chat, etc. (basically any public area of the forum) has the right to be questioned about it. You an always say that it's a private matter but still expect questions especially when everything isn't clear. You also don't have to get snotty about it and jump all over others yourself.

I fully intend on telling the interested party the exact amount of time, but I do not have to say it on here.

I'm not saying where I live on here either. I used to have it up there in the corner, where it says living in a C&C cage. The reason I changed it is because my late grandfather's bank account got hacked into, and thousands of dollars were stolen.

We were given advice not to give ANY sort of information out online, where it is for all to see.

I'm really sorry, but I can only reveal all of the info to whomever may send me a private message saying they would be interested in babysitting them. I don't mean to seem snobby, I'm doing it for my own personal safety.

I don't need to let everyone on here know the details. I would never imagine not telling the specifics to whomever is interested in babysitting them. I DO have a SPECIFIC amount of time, but I'm only telling that to someone if they ask via PM.

Re: 4 guinea pigs need a temporary new home asap Asheville N.C.

I think I'm just going to give them to the shelter or something. No one on here will let me give them away for free. If you do that, and you've been to see the person's house, and you can't tell that they're a snake person, then wouldn't that mean they aren't reptile/snake person looking for food?

No evidence in house=not person looking to feed reptiles, doesn't it?

Oh, and I just wanted to add that I know it sounds bad that I said give them to the shelter, but maybe I'll try craigslist first.

What???

You can't tell if a person is a sicko or animal abuser by looking at them. Sometimes they show up with kids who are not theirs and pretend to be nice.

I'm not sure how you went from asking for a pigsitter to dumping them?

Have you checked with local vets who board or pet sitting services? I'm sure you have those near you. You have to pay of course but you said you were offering to pay in your first posts.

Well, I really just need a very temporary pig sitter, but all the comments seem to think it is too big of a chore to ask anyone to do.

And I meant me physically going to their house and looking for a snake....could they hide it somewhere or something?

Re: 4 guinea pigs need a temporary new home asap Asheville N.C.

If it's temporary couldn't you look into longer term pet boarding? Or compensating a foster person from a small animal rescue?

I would hate to lose my pets forever due to a temporary situation.

Re: 4 guinea pigs need a temporary new home asap Asheville N.C.

Depends how big the snake is. I doubt most will let you look around or if they know, they can hide it or the snake may be a friend's. Or maybe they'd take them as breeders or bait in a dog fight or such.

I think the way you posted your request was more complicated than any responses you got.

Re: 4 guinea pigs need a temporary new home asap Asheville N.C.

Sophisticavy, I don't think anyone is looking for PERSONAL details. You don't have to post your location but I think what people are trying to say is that if you gave a few more details about the "pig-sitting", people might be more inclined to inquire. You might get a few more PMs if people knew a little more about it. Although knowing what STATE you are in, might help people know if they are close enough to you to be able to help you out.

There's nothing private about mentioning how long the pig-sitting will be. People who would be willing to take them in, would find it helpful to know how long they will have them. It also might help you get more takers. Someone who could do this for 2 weeks, might not be able to do it for 2 months. It would make a difference as to who you get to respond.

It would be like someone looking to hire someone for a job, posting the position but not giving any details about it. Someone might ask, "Well what are the hours? What's the salary?" And the response being, "I will not give that information until you call for an interview!"

I certainly don't think it's too much to ask someone to do, but it's too much to ask a total stranger to do for free. I could come up with a half dozen friends who I could have watch my pigs for a short time on short notice, but I certainly wouldn't be expecting them to do it with no compensation for the service they would be providing. I think the problem has been how you've worded your request, not the request itself.

I agree.

Things would of been so much easier for you if in your first post something like, I am unable to care for them for approx one month and I live near....they will be coming with everything needed to care for them and also vet bills will be covered. Also a small fee will be paid for your trouble and help.
Then maybe you would get a better response and everyone would of had more of an idea what it entailed. Also you haven’t given away any personal information or dates involved.
Also I agree with everyone about being careful who you choose there may be member on here that has helped friends out before with care or a piggy train, that could be recommended as a genuine person and cavy lover.
Good luck

Re: 4 guinea pigs need a temporary new home asap Asheville N.C.

How do you expect anyone to even consider helping you with this if you're not willing to provide the most basic information? If you aren't willing to give a location no one is going to know if they're even close enough to reasonably consider helping you out.

And I'm sorry, but your snotty attitude would be a huge turn off as well.

If you don't want to share "personal" details, great, no one really wants to hear them anyway. However, if you aren't willing to share the most basic information, ie your location, length of their stay, what you're including with them, etc., then good luck even getting a total stranger to reply and possibly be willing to deal with you on a longer term basis to do this favor for you.

If you decide to dump them, that's your decision, but don't try to blame members here for making it seem like "too big of a chore" when in reality it comes down to your inability and unwillingness to communicate the most basic information about what you're asking people to do.

From your post, the only people who are going to respond will be the ones who have vested interests in getting the piggies into their posession. They will try anything, anyone, anywhere, even without basic information.

It is wiser to provide the information with due discretion, eg. Cornish Cavies, so people have an idea of parameters, to garner the help you need.

Good luck

Somebody already offered from Craigslist, thanks. They are a member on here and on guinealynx, they said that they lurk and don't post anything.

In the cl ad I gave out more info, and I did in the guineapighome.com website too.

I'm probably not going to go through with this, but I would pay them if I did go through. I would pay them per day, like you would if you were going on vacation or something.
