I saw this ad today on Craigslist: Guinea Pig Cage & Acessories (also free guinea pig) - $49 (mcdonald ave & ft hamilton pkwy). The ad states that they are going to take the pig to Petco (probably the one in Union Sq. based on location) if they cannot find a home for her. I'd hate to see this happen, but I can't take her as I have 4 boars, 2 of which are in puberty. I emailed them and they still have the pig. I gave them the information for the Sean Casey animal rescue and hopefully they will consider them as an option. I also wanted to post here in case anyone in NYC is looking to adopt, this might be an option. |

Can you let me know if they e-mail back... I'll finally talk to my mom about it tomorrow and since this is an emergency I'm sure my mom will come around.... I'm a couple min. away from NYC and my sis works in NYC so I'm sure she could pick the pig up after work tomorrow so PM me if they answer you!! |

MissFormosa, on an unrelated note, do you know anything about the Sean Casey animal rescue? I am thinking of volunteering there and just want to know what kind of a place it is. |

I haven't been to the actual rescue facility, but I have spoken to them about their guinea pigs and cats for adoption. They were very nice and they have several pigs available. I am holding off on adopting another pig until this whole puberty thing that one of my boars is going through calms down. But at least I know somewhere close by I can go to rescue one. Before finding them, the closest shelter I could locate on PetFinder was in Jersey. I believe they are located in the Kensington area of Brooklyn. I am sure they can use help and I think it is worth a try to ask. They rescue dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, and reptiles. They also have several adoption events a year. Here's the various ways to contact them: MySpace page Website PetFinder page Facebook page YouTube channel |
