Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I am crying so hard right now... ![]() We are moving this summer and because no airline can take them as a carry-on, we were going to ship them as cargo. But our problem is, If it's too hot (85+) the airport (dulles) won't accept them... We called someone and said that she doubt if this summer it will be cool enough. We will try to make them go as cargo on july the 17th, but it will probably be too hot. We send e-mails to our friends to ask if they could possibly keep them until september and afte they ship them, but they are all on vacation and haven't responded. So, we need, in case nothing works out, a possible new home for them. They will come with -25+grids (sorry, I don't have coroplast), -towels,2 sheets of fleece for a 2x4 cage, -small cat carrier -2 bowls, 1 water bottle -their cozy-cup (I don't have hideys as I just use cardboard boxes) -a plastic box you attach to the cage to use as a hay rack. -the rest of their hay and pellets They are 2 girls, Rose and Lily, they are really sweet, but Rose will bite if you tickle her And please, if you have any advice, ideas, so I don't need to rehome, tell me... I have some pictures of them in my gallery. |

So I checked on multiple weather sites, and it seems this thursday it's going to be 80. That would be ok but the person on the telephone said it would be 90. My mom said that Dulles Airport is in Chantilly, VA. Is she correct, because maybe she was wrong and we are looking at the wrong city ? Help please ! |

I am moving from here to Tunisia, but since there aren't any direct flights, we will have to go to France first. So, Thursday it's 79degres, but I discovered that Delta (cargo company) passes by Atlanta Georgia, and it will be 87 degres there. Do you know if United also passes by Atlanta ? Thanks Rabbitsncavyluv for the threads, I will read them. |

I'm in Montgomery Village, MD. I don't know if I can take both but I may be able to take one. I currently have 3 pigs and my cage is big enough for one more, but probably not two. Are your pigs spayed? My mom has a solo pig so that may be an option if you can't take them with you, but only if the girls are spayed. My mom is in Germantown and her boy is not neutered. Just to add, I have two girls and one boy. The boy is neutered. |

No, they aren't nutered, sorry. My girls also hate boy piggies, Rose will attack them and Lily is derified of them. I also forgot to mention, they can't be seperated. Thanks for your help but I can't seperate them. |

Good news ! I will ask the rescue I fostered for (small angels rescue) to keep them during the summer, and then to bring them to the airport. My mom said yes if they are ok with the idea, and since my parents are already paying for the trip for the piggies, with my birthday money I will pay for the piggy-sitting and the trip to the airport. But I still need a foster/forever home if nothing works out. |

I am sorry for your stress. I would just hide them in my bag! I think if worse comes to worse you could put am ice pack in the carrier. |

I think it's a good idea to keep them at the rescue until they can travel. Hope it all works out. |

Ok, I have even better news : So the rescue thing didn't work out too well, so my mom's friend accepted to keep them for 2 months, bring them to the vet for the plane checkup (they have to be healthy in order to fly) then bring them to the airport. My aunt who lives in Paris will come and get them and Well go an get them. I'm so happy I don't have to rehome ! |

Wow, cant believe all the airport drama, that must have been stressful, Im glad you dont have to rehome! What does it mean that they have to go as cargo? Are you putting them in a box/cage? And does it go with special cargo that is handled carefully - i cant imagine they would put them with the rest of the suitcases...? |

So guinea pigs can't fly in the cabin for most flights now, so you can either put them in the hold or as cargo. Mine are going as cargo as we are taking airfrance and they don't even allow rodents as cargo ! Luckly, United does allow them either in the hold or as cargo, so since we won't be on the plane with them, they go as cargo. Of course, they ask that we put "live animal" stickers on the sides and the top of the carrier. They will be in the heated and pressurized part of the cargo area. I hope I answered most of your questions ! |

It was just a joke, i would never put my pig in a bag! They could suffocate. I am happy everything is working out for you. Hopefully your pigs will have a safe trip! Good luck! |
