Female Abby in Lapeer MI in bad shape

This posting breaks my heart. I wish I could rush in and save her. That "bag balm" they're using is unsafe for pigs and won't get rid of that gal's mites. I'm also wary at their claim that the pig's bumblefoot "went away on its own".

I'd be willing to help with a piggie train for getting her if anyone's got the room and capabilities.

Re: Female Abby in Lapeer MI in bad shape

Why is bag balm bad? Everything I've read says its very helpful for mites and skin irritation on piggies. What am I missing?

Re: Female Abby in Lapeer MI in bad shape

I don't want to get this thread too off track, but here's some highlights from the guinealynx post I linked to: The only active ingredient is an antimicrobial product used on to prevent cut flowers from getting moldy and an agent to inhibit Botrytis cinerea infections in grape vines. There is absolutely no doubt this is not a miticide and would not kill the mites at all. The reviewers mentioned its toxicity, impact on the environment, effect on human health, and on organic agriculture. It's also not approved by the FDA to be used on animals. To treat mites there are better and safer options (not to mention proven to work time and again) in the form of ivermectin.
