Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0
Hi, I'm pretty new to the forum. I have two boys that I love dearly; they are so wonderful. However, I have decided to apply for the Peace Corps. I don't know anything yet about whether or not I'll be able to volunteer, hence the part where I'm asking for advice, rather than asking for someone to take my boys. I am also looking into friends and family that might be able to take them, but my question is, if I can't do that, what's the likelihood that someone would be okay with taking care of my cavies for two years, and then giving them back? I'd hate to have to give my boys up permanently, but if whoever got my boys fell in love with them, too, and wanted to keep them, or ... ? I don't know. Like I said, I don't know anything yet about whether or not I'll be able to go, bu I'm just starting to think about everything, and I want to make sure my boys will be cared for while I'm gone and I can go back to being a happy cavy-momma when I get back. Advice? Ideas? Thank so much, changeling |

I don't know what to tell you! You might not want to hear this but as I'm sure you know, cavies are so addicting in the good way. We all become obsessed and love them! Hopefully a family member could take them and give them back. I'm not sure a complete stranger would be willing to do that. Good Luck! |

Unless you could find a family member or close friend, I really doubt a stranger would be willing to do that and I don't think it is right of you to ask someone to do it. I think the best choice is to re-home them to a family that you feel confident will give them everything you need. You could even ask them if they would be willing to drop you an email with pictures a couple times a year so that you know how they are doing. |
