Which is better?

About 3 months ago we adopted a special needs guinea pig from a pet store. And now we decided it was a little lonlely and we want to get him a friend. Is it better to get another special needs boy or just a regular boy off craigslist (because we called all shelters in our area and nobody has any)

Re: Which is better?

Sticking his head up in the air is that considered being special needs? I have never heard of a thing like that, My one piggie is blind in one eye and she sticks her head up in the air because she is smelling things- Her hearing and scent are better than her eyesight, is that maybe what they meant when they said special needs? And if its just ths blindness you could get a regular healthy piggy!! my vet only suggested not to move the food or water around when i rearrange the items in the cage

Re: Which is better?

That helps me out alot! It would be easier if they knew what the special need was. And like you said we try not to move his food around just in case he has trouble seeing.

Re: Which is better?

Correct!! you can move the hideys if you want, I do- Just because she still has sight and its only one eye thats getting foggy for her! Just be sure the food and water is in place, other than that just love your piggy!!! =)

Re: Which is better?

* I was really upset at first when peanut had a cataract, i took her straight to the vet! And i was a little sad for her, but she is my most attentive pig when it comes to her surroundings! she grew quite a personality, so sometimes I forget she even is going blind
