I have a very pampered male guinea pig named Hilton. I've been thinking of getting him a friend. I know a male wold not be a good idea (he's alpha piggy). I want to get him a girlfriend but I DO NOT WANT THEM TO BREED. That is why it is important the piggy be spayed. |

I'm not for sure, but if Hilton would be dominant over another male, then he would do the same with a female. My males are good together. Of course they rumblestut, mount, and chatter their teeth at each other, but that is completely normal. One of my boys is having problems jumping into the eating area (due to old age, and bad eyesight) and the other one is helping him out. Right now I think they are both appreciating each other's companionship. So, Hilton might actually like another male companion. Of course a female would give him an extra perk, which is why you would want to get one of them fixed. Nuetering a male is a less intrusive surgery than the spaying of a female though. Of course I am sure that you are very attached to Hilton and would hate to see any bad outcomes with a surgery for him. |

I had a male pig and they get along fine but the other one get really dominate all of a sudden and was obsessive with trying to get to Hilton (through the divider of their cage because I had to separate them). So I'm not sure if Hilton would tolerate another male. Hence the reason of my thinking he would prefer a female. I don't plan on neutering Hilton or spaying a female, that's why I am trying to find a female that has already had it done. |

If he's older, you could find a young boar to put with him. Many boars do well with pups. |
