Need to Rehome Iowa - 2 beautiful 6 week old girls - Guinea Pig Cages, Care, Store, Photos of Guinea Pigs and More Forum!

We have 2 lovely females who need a home. They were born Feb. 20. We had someone lined up to adopt them, but it fell through. I got my adult female in December, and we didn't know she was pregnant at the time.

We are sad to have to let them go, but we currently have 5 piggies, and not enough room.

The gray and white one is Abby. She is extremely fun. She popcorns a lot (I say she looks like she's getting random electrical shocks), loves to run around, and is very outgoing. The black and white one is Cookie. She is very sweet. She hardly ever runs away when you pick her up, and she loves to cuddle. We would like them to be adopted together.

We are in Davenport, IA and are willing to travel up to a couple of hours if needed.

I live in Cedar Rapids and I have not had any piggies before this, nor do I have any now. I have been doing my research on guinea pigs, and my mom has a friend who's had guinea pigs for years. She's going to help me get set up, and make sure I get the right supplies. My parents know about your guinea pigs and said it is OK to adopt them.

Nickie - up at the top of the screen on the right, there should be a small box that has your info (screen name, when you last visited, and notifications). If you click on the notifications, a list should come down - click on "unread private messages."

Got it. :-) The girls are doing well. Abby is quite a little squeaker. I don't remember if I mentioned, but she has an extra toe on each hind foot. Probably due to inbreeding. She's perfectly healthy though. I clipped her nails tonight, and no problems (other than she got mad at me and tried to nibble my hand). But once it was done, she calmed right down and cuddled for a while.

What do you use for bedding, and what kind of food do they like?

We use carefresh in the part of the cage where the food, water, and hay is, and we use fleece (with newspapers and cheap towels underneath) in the rest of the cage. Until a couple of weeks ago, we used carefresh in the whole cage.

We give them alfalfa pellets (they like the Nutriphase brand, but I keep looking for Oxbow because I heard it is better - haven't been able to find it around here though). They also get veggies every day and timothy hay. We keep offering alfalfa hay (because they need alfalfa until they are 6 months old), but they don't seem to like it. At least they get the alfalfa in their food pellets.
