Star *Considering* adopting a 4th guinea pig *Asheville, North Carolina*

Hello, I am considering adopting a 4th guinea pig. I live in Asheville, NC.

My 3 current cavies are all un-spayed sows. So therefore, I would not be able to adopt an intact/non-neutered boar. I would only be able to adopt a boar if he was neutered.

One of my girls is a shorthair American Satin. The other two are also shorthaired Americans, but I don't know if they are satin for sure or not, but Ginger is definetely satin . So, maybe a variation other than American would be nice. I'd love to have a Peruvian that I could brush, or a Teddy or Texel, since those two seem especially rare for me.
I realize that color/coat type doesn't matter, that the only thing that matters is that the piggie just seems to "click" with me, and that the piggie is healthy and has a good personality that would work with my other 3.

Age doesn't matter to me, even though I would "prefer" a youngster or a baby.

I'm going to check my local shelters/rescues by calling them, and put more ads around the net on the reccomended cavy sites.

However, if there isn't a piggy in my local rescue/shelter, then I have to ask if there is such a thing as a "piggy transport train" (a network of volunteers who transport piggies that are being adopted from one place to another, especially if the two places aren't within feasible driving distance).

I'm not going to buy from a pet store or breeder, absolutely not.

Ok, well, thanks in advance!

Hey there fellow NC-er! I volunteer with All Creatures Rescue and Sanctuary in NC. We're based out of Raleigh, but we adopt all over the state, and could piggie train out to you.

Here's our website: The ACR&S: All Creatures Rescue and Sanctuary
