Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0
By the end of November/mid December, I will have all of my money put aside for all of my future guinea pig's needs. I have looked in many places for rescues near my area, but the closest is about an hour and a half away. There is one about an hour away, but all the supplies I need are in Durham, as well as the guinea pigs I want to adopt. My mom MAY be willing to drive that far, but just in case she isn't, I want to see if there are any guinea pigs near Plainfield, CT up for adoption. Does anyone around that area have any piggies up for adoption? Thanks in advance. My plans: A 2x4 cage, fleece bedding, Oxbow pellets and hay, fresh veggies. The works. |

I live in CT too and I know the feeling about not being able to find a piggie here. I go to UConn and whenever I look on Petfinder I don't see many in our neck of the woods. However, If you aren't tied to needing a certain sex because of current piggies I see two pretty girls in Colchester, CT at Helping Paws. Adopt a Guinea Pig: Martha & Morris: Petfinder Good luck finding some pretty piggies to adopt! Also, if you need places to make a cage you can save some money by getting grids at bed, bath and beyond. You can also call some small independently owned sign stores to get some cheap coro. It might help you to get lower prices if you tell them the coro is for a pig cage so they don't think you are going to use it to make signs. |

SUnshine I think said it all! For cheaper fleece get the sales ones at places like Joann's fabrics! For, food, I would buy eerything in bulk (pellets and hay) so you spend less if your the only one supporting your animals. There's also a pair in Waterford. I don't know how close you are to them. Haha, Starshine, those are the guinea pigs who are about an hour away. They are definitely an option, it just depends on what my mom finds more convenient: closer guinea pigs, or farther guinea pigs where all the supplies are. I guess I will have to find out soon. |

Doesn't it suck how there is absolutely NOTHING on this side of the state?! I come from Fairfield county and go to school in the middle of nowhere. I do love CT, don't get me wrong but , ometimes I can't believe how different the eastern/northen part of CT is compared to southern CT. |

Definitely. I mean, there ARE guinea pigs who are somewhat close by (an hour to two hours away), and if it was my decision, I would hop in a car and go adopt them right now. Haha. If only there were rescues closer by.. Oh well, hopefully I will be able to convince my mom to drive to the piggies, and if worse comes to worse, I will order the supplies online, besides the coroplast. Gosh, so many problems. |
