I advertised on Freecycle that I wanted guinea pigs. A lady contacted me about hers and seemed really interested in getting rid of hers. I went and picked him up. He is really pretty. He had medium length hair. I named him Neopolitan because his head is tan, his middle is creme and his hind end is red on one side and tan on the other side. He looks like the ice cream. My boys really like him. They say he is fun to hold because he makes all kinds of neat noises when they hold him and pet him. He is very social with the humans. I have all girls in the other pens so this guy is all alone right now. If anyone is interested in adopting him, let me know. Thanks, Angel Last edited by Ly&Pigs; 08-24-08 at 12:49 pm. Hey Angel! Long time no see. Hope you have been okay. I'm curious. hat happened to Patchy, Ly's pig? I have his sister from the same litter and I'm not certain if you knew but her other sister died suddenly of unknown causes and Meg developed ovarian cysts very young (she was spayed and is now fine). Their 2 half brothers also died; one at birth and the other a week later. There was some sort of nasty genetics working those poor little ones and I've been curious for a while about how Patchy was doing, if he was still alive and if so how his health was? |

Hey there, Voodoo! I don't know why Patchy died. He seemed fine the evening before and when I woke up the next day he was dead. He was soooo sweet. It mad me cry. I just found a home for Neopolitan. A girl in Conway advertised that she wants g-pigs and she is a stay at home mom. So, he will get lots of lovin. I'm meeting her this evening. I'm glad he won't have to be lonely anymore. Angel |

I'm sorry Angel. I had a feeling Patchy died. When did it happen? Poor little Meg is the only one left now. Thank goodness she's doing well since her spay. I assume there was something similar going on with the boys that wasn't as visible with the girls (Wheeky, Meg and Patchy's sibling, was a boy not a girl--my mistake). |

It was a little over a week and a half. I was surprised since I thought he was so young. Neopolitan is with his new family now. They were so excited to meet him. Husband said for me not to bring home anyone else. I have adopted four girls this week. They will have to be all of my piggy family for now. I'll take some pictures and post them soon. I guess I better go play with my girls a little before I head off to bed. Angel |

Ok, I'm crying now. It's been so long since I've heard from you. I've wondered about Patchy for a very long time, but you never contacted me to give me any updates. Patchy would have been 3 years and 3 months old on the 14th of August. His brother Wheeky had been adopted out and then returned to me later on that same year. Wheeky died two years ago, Aug. 1, 2006, about a week to a week or so after he had been returned to me. He was perfectly fine one night and dead in his cage the next day. So I am like VJ, thinking there were a lot of genetic defects involved. Moppy had delivered two pups from the same father and I don't remember the sex of the stillborn but the other was female (I had named her Marnie) and she lived about a week or so. She was pretty fragile and weak when she was born and was handfed every couple of hours. Chatty, Patchy's mom is still doing great other than her blind eye and will turn 4 in late Sept./early Oct. Glad you were able to find a loving home for Neopolitan. Also I am curious if you have any pictures of Patchy that you had taken in the last couple of years? |

I should have some pictures. I'm so bad about not loading them onto the computer where I can find them again. I'm going to have to organize my photos somehow. I haven't given my grandma pictures of the kids in forever. I was so good about that until my third child and then I just couldn't keep up with pictures because I am too busy enjoying them while they are young. I keep coming across pictures of Bernie holding the piggies I had rescued a few years ago. One of them might be of Finny, or did you name her Finna? You'll have to tell me if you think this is of her or one of her cagemates I rescued. I hope I uploaded it correctly. |

That looks like Oatsy (Oatmeal Muffin). Not sure because I can't see the face. It's not Finna though. Oatsy passed away a few months ago (March) from suspected liver cancer. Finna passed away last month. |

Wow! Poor things. I know a couple of the adoptees that I gave to a close friend passed away really quickly, like with in months. I think those poor things were all inbreed so much that there wasn't any hope. When I got them, the lady had all of them in two of those petstore cages. They didn't have any food or water because they had probably emptied it the second she put it in there. They could hardly move because there were so many of them. If I remember right, I think there were 17 all together. She started with two from a pet store and ended up with 17 before I came along. Those poor guys. They never had a chance. I remember I told her I'd take all or none because I couldn't stand the thought of leaving any of them behind. |

Man, husband seems to be insanely jealous if my new herd. He woke up and wanted the house and yard cleaned because he was tired of living like a slob...like we having lived this way for years and years. Anyway, I took advantange of his new energy on cleaning and we have a clean yard and an almost clean house. Man, that doesn't happen very often. I'll have to adopt herds more often, if he doesn't divorce me over it instead of cleaning. |

Yeah I remember you saying there were like 8 in one cage and 9 in another. I still have the cage you gave me and it's not big enough for 1 much less 8 or 9. I ended up using it for a rat cage for awhile. Now it's just a backup medical cage. If you run across any pictures of who you think may be Patchy just send them to me. I'd sure love to have them. |

I sure will. One of the females I adopted reminds me of him. She sorta looks like him and loves to snuggle. I've got to get my camera out and take some pictures. |
