Have you checked Petfinder.com: Adopt a pet and help an animal shelter rescue a puppy or kitten. and Guinea Pig Home - Home ?

Spaying is pretty invasive. You usually only need to do it if they have ovarian cysts or hormonal issues. If you have a male guinea pig, it's easier to get him fixed.

Well, yes I have checked petfinder. The closest one is probably about 1 1/2 hr away from me and I was wondering if there was any closer. I have 2 boars now and they are not fixed. I wanted the 2 sows to be fixed, because I do not want to breed them. There are enough piggies in the world and we don't need anymore.

You might want to try: Adopt a Guinea Pig in PA/NJ/NY/WV

Echoing the point that spaying is an invasive surgery, so it should only be done if you have an experienced cavy savvy vet. This might make your search more difficult, since there aren't that many vets out there who are experienced with the surgery.

You might try the PA Have-a-Heart guinea pigs though (Adopt a Guinea Pig in PA/NJ/NY/WV: PA-Have-A-Heart Guinea Pig Rescue: Boys and Girls!) with a small donation they can be spayed, and some have already been spayed. There are also some who are already in bonded pairs.

Re: Looking to adopt 2 sows in Harrisburg, York PA area

I've been dealing with Marci at the NJ Have-A-Heart GP rescue. They have lots of piggies in the SE PA area that shouldn't be too far away for you. She also seems like she'd probably be willing to help get a piggie to you in Harrisburg if that's what you really need. She seems to be a great person, with a huge heart, although the adoption form is looooong!

Arielle72, I took your advice and Marci hooked me up with a foster mom in York, PA which is right down the road. It is close. I am just waiting for the foster mom to email me so I can make arrangements to go look and take my boys to see how they all get along. Thanks
