Pig Train? So I'm still looking for a friend (or two or three) for my guinea pig, Ginger. I've heard people on here say something about a "pig train." How easy are these to organize? I doubt there are any people on here between Fargo, ND and St. Paul, MN, but I thought it would be worth it to ask. Fargo, ND has one small animal rescue. That is me, and I do not yet feel I am equipped to rescue cavies. The only place there is to surrender a cavy to is Petco. I've tried Petfinder. The closest adoptions are in Chaska and St. Paul, Minnesota. I've tried Craigslist. There are maybe 0-5 postings every day for my area in the pets section, so it's not often that there are guinea pigs. BUT. I have found two listings. I emailed both people, and they have not gotten back to me yet, and it has been a few days to a week or more. So my options are: Wait for people to get back to me on CL, or wait for another listing to be posted. Adopt/buy a pig from a pet store. Start a piggy train. I do NOT want to buy a pig if there is a way I can adopt/rescue one. Petco's adoption center is a joke. It doesn't look like Craigslist is very promising. So I am wondering, are there any members that live between Fargo and St. Paul that would be willing to start a piggy train?

Re: Pig Train? Oh wow, I totally didn't see that one, thanks! EDIT: Actually, it just doesn't show up when I do a search. I'm hopeless... EDIT #2: How did you find that?! I can't find her listing no matter what I search. Haha, that's only about a 2 hour drive...I think I might be able to talk my girlfriend into that. Either that or I'll have to wait for one to pop up in my area. Again, thanks!

Re: Pig Train? If you need help organising a piggy train, for whatever the reason, then I suggest that you post on Guinealynxs forum under the Cavy Placement section - http://www.guinealynx.info/forums/Emma is an adorable little girl.

Re: Pig Train? Emma is a real cutie. Also, sometimes private parties, or volunteers from rescue groups are willing to meet half way. It's always worth asking.

Re: Pig Train? Alright, thanks guys! So far my best bet has been as close as Brainerd, MN, so I'll have to see if I can talk my girlfriend into a little road trip on her next day off. ^_^

Re: Pig Train? How do you organize a pig train if you want/need to? There are three girls at the Humane Society in Seattle that I would like to adopt but I probably can't get up there till next weekend, which isn't really a big deal but if I could get them sooner I'd like to. It may not be worth the hassle but I thought I'd at least inquire here. Thanks.

If it's the latter, I might be able to help. If it's the former, I'm not sure I'd be much help for a while though I'll be making that drive sometime soon. |
