Have-A-Heart guinea pig rescue

I found this shelter through PetFinder. They are relatively close to me and will be at an animal fun day type thing in April. It is located in NJ and the fun day is at a Delaware State Park. They will have piggies for adoption at the fair (although you have to apply before-hand and be approved first)

Does anyone know anything about this shelter?

Everyone says our Tyler needs a friend and I thought this would be a good way to get him one.

Thanks

Re: Have-A-Heart guinea pig rescue

Great rescue, run by a lady named Marci. I haven't dealt with her personally being down here in SC but piggiesinpa adopted from her and said she was great. I have heard nothing but fantastic things about Have a Heart.

Re: Have-A-Heart guinea pig rescue

I adopted one of my boars through Marci's rescue and I could not have been more pleased. I wanted to make absolutely sure that I had found my Howie the perfect cage mate so when I turned down several pigs (although I personally wanted them...but it would not have been the best situation for my little guy) Marci was completely understanding. Howie and his Have-A-Heart buddy Bee are now lifetime buddies--all thanks to Marci and her dedicated foster homes!

Have-A-Heart rescue is definately a reputable rescue. I've heard many good things about Marci.

It is part of Delaware's "First Annual Week for the Animals." It starts on April 19 (Earth Day) at the Brandywine Zoo.

Then on April 20 at Killen's Pond State Park, they are having a Family Fun day and Adoption Fair. There is more information at the website (I don't know how to post links and I can't find it right now) I know that Have-A-Heart Rescue will be there, along with many other rescue organizations of all types of animals. They will have animal friendly vendors and booths as well as games and rides for kids.

Then there are conferences and talks at the various animal shelters around the state for the rest of the week.

It sounds like lots of fun. I think we will go whether we are going to adopt another friend or not.

If you go to the Have-A-Heart website, it tells a little bit about it. It also says that you need to be pre-approved in order to adopt at the fair.

Looks like I'll submit an application and then check out the piggies at the fair.
