My newest adoption... he is TOO precious.

Introducing my newest baby boy, York!

I haven't picked him up yet, hopefully that'll be happening this weekend when I get a day off.

I found him on Craigslist listed as a special needs GP; he belongs to a breeder () not far from where I live. She's giving him away because he has "allergies" and breathes poorly... sounds like a URI to me! He's not from a litter of hers; she bought him from from a pet store to sire litters but decided against using him because of his condition. She says because of this, he is caged by himself (probably a pet store cage!) and she does not give him the love he deserves other than the occasional pat on the head when she fills his bowl with food. She says she'll keep him if no one else will take him, but she admits he won't get much attention.

And what if his poor breathing IS caused by a URI!? He needs care urgently. She says the pet store clerk is the one that told her he just had "allergies." Does anyone know if guinea pigs can have allergies...?

Anyways, he is a Peruvian beauty and about to be mine! I wish I could take all the rest.......... but then she'd just breed more.

Here are two pictures.

So after posting this, I realized it'd be better off in another area besides "Adoptables" but then I couldn't figure out how to move it (or if I even can)... oh well.

A mod would have to move it for you.

He is beautiful. Hopefully you can pick him up and get him to avet before it is too late. Good luck!

How cute! I don't think he is a full Peruvian though, looks like he is part Aby..could be wrong though but my Peruvian doesn't really have that sort of coat. Guinea Pigs can get allergies but it is most likely a URI so I would take him the vets and not introduce him to you're other pigs - do the quarantining strictly.

That's exactly what I thought about his coat. He looks part Aby to me, but the current owner says his hair gets long and straight if she doesn't trim it constantly... I don't know, either way he's precious!

In that first picture he looks like he needs someone to snuggle and talk softly to him so bad. He is the cutest little boy. I'm glad he's fixing to get a new home who will be good to him. Give him smooches from me too! Hope he's better soon.

Re: My newest adoption... he is TOO precious.

Yes, piggers can have allergies. I have one with that problem. I installed an air purifier (as suggested by my vet) near his cage and his breathing is much improved.

That being said, its important that your new guy sees a vet to rule out a URI and confirm that it is an allergy.
