Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hey guys I have just adopted a male piggy he is so cute!!!! I could not take him home today, because the lady that works there made a mistake with our address and she told me that I could not take it because she had to talk to the landlord first because the system got another name instead of the one I gave her Im so HAPPY!!!!! |

Please don't take any chances. If anything, get the pig seen by a professional who can decide whether or not the boar is neutered. Many boars have small, un-noticable or even undescended testicles. You know what happened the last time you decided you wanted your pigs to "have a family" so please don't think about getting this pig unless you're willing to have it checked out or neutered. |

The reason I adopted him was to help him not breed him. Please don't start with the little argument Im not up for that and dont have time for that. |

I think what daftscotslass is trying to say is, get him seen by a vet for an over all wellness exam as well as having him checked to make sure that he is in fact neutered so that you don't end up with an accidental litter. Its the responsible thing to do! :-) |

You were given excellent advice. No argument started and no attitude is needed. It's always a good idea to have a new pig checked out. It's entirely possible that he is not neutered. My vet and his techs had to check Percy over several times before they were positive he was even male, so just because you don't see testicles, doesn't mean they aren't there. If he is an intact male, are you going to have him neutered, or do you plan to continue looking for a female to live with your sow? |

Yes I will adopt a female to live with my female piggy. Well in this forum everybody argues before talking and I just stated before an argument that I did not have time for them or wanted to argue that was all. |

Everyone does not start arguments. However have you thought that perhaps automatically snapping with a belligerent attitude could cause an argument. Nothing that daftscotslass said was argumentative in the slightest. If someone responds in a way you don't think is appropriate, please send a private message to one of the moderators instead of be accusatory in the thread itself. |

I was just saying, just to avoid any argument I did not say she was starting one I just asked her to please do not attempt to start about the subject in which I breeded my piggy in the past. I will not loose my time PMs no one I will just ignore and inapropiate comment, I am very happy today to let any one spolied it. |

If you don't want advice, don't ask for it. Nobody started an argument (take a look at your own posts?) What I said was extremely valid - you MUST NOT assume that an animal is neutered, particularly since you assumed incorrectly with your last boar that it was impossible for him to breed at 4 months old. |

First of all it was a guess, and second of all I know that in this forum you cannot ask for help because the last thing some members do here is help instead they start arguying and making inapropiate comments, In this case you just tried to make an advise I apreciated but your comment about the "having a family" got me mad because people are always throwing at each other past issues. That was all. |

Sometimes the past is a reasonable basis for the future, partularly when the motivation is to give helpful advice. Just thank them for the advice and move on...would be my advice. Snapping back you just come off far more rude than whoever you felt was rude to you. When you solicit advice on the internet, it is not always going to be worded in the exact way you would choose. If you "get mad" every time this occurs, you are going to spend a lot of time mad. |

Well the new piggy I adopted I have to pick him up tomorrow. They havve to talk with the landlord first then they will give me the piggy. I was so upset I have adopted 2 piggies from that shelter and my husband's dogs were adopted from that shelter too, so the landlord agrees with us having the animals. The lady made a mistake in the address and some other landlord name came out and then they hold the piggy for me after paying the little fee. I was so sad I already imagined myself giving him a bath, feeding, and petting him |

Aw, look on the bright side, he isn't going anywhere! Congrats on adopting, you did a good thing. I hope to see you more on this forum now that you have four pigs? Maybe kindly bring it to your landlord's attention that you are waiting for him to reply, Good luck and when he is home I think I can speak for everyone when I say we would love to see some pictures! |

Are you putting all 3 males together? The 2 adult males with the baby? |

Not necessarily bad. It could be risky though. How big is the cage that you will have the 3 boars in? With males it's especially important that they have a large amount of space and multiple food dishes, water bottles, and hidies to avoid arguments over territory. |
