Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Later today I am going to be rescuing a family of guinea pigs. Their owner had placed them on Craigslist multiple times and they are not being taken care of. I tried to get the owner just to take the piggies to the SPCA but she can't be bothered to do anything. I just can't take in any more animals right now. My house is full! If I can't find good homes for them in the next couple of days, I will have to bring them to the EC SPCA. It's a great shelter and they will probably get adopted very quickly there. I'll make sure to give them some gp care sheets. I'm hoping someone on this list will want to adopt some of them. I haven't seen them yet, but was told that she has: ~Mommy pig- will be a year old this January ~3 babies- she thinks they were born around October 10th. So they should be around 6.5 weeks old. I really hope that there aren't any male babies because I think she is housing them all together. I will post more info later and pics. Please someone adopt them!!! Thanks! |

I just moved from Buffalo & I'm not sure which SPCA you're talking about but I know every time I went to the one in Tonawanda near Sheridan & Military on Ensminger Rd I think, they had pigs there. Maybe they'd be a better place. I'll see if any of my friends want to adopt one from you too. Good luck! |

Hello again, I just finished getting all of the pigs settled in. I sexed the babies and it looks like all 3 of them are boys! That means that their mother could already be pregnant again. I have the 3 boys in a large cage together and mom is in her own cage. Poor things were very hungry and ate like crazy in their new cages. Their past owner kept all 4 of them in a tiny cage filled with cedar bedding. Of course they were also fed the worst possible pellets and no hay. Now they probably think that they are in piggie heaven! All of the piggies are VERY cute. They look like abby/peruvian mixes. Tomorrow I will take pics and post them under the adoptables section. Please let me know if you can think of anyone who would like to adopt them! Thanks so much! |

SkinnyPigs, do you need help with the possibly pregnant female? I am sure you'll have an easier time finding homes for the baby boys. I think you know me, I am Rachel Murphy and I am part of the rescue Life Long Tails in Cheektowaga. The last person who dropped off some piggies told me they had called the Erie County SPCA about bringing in their piggies, they were told that they would be euthanized, they have too many right now, this was during this past week. You can e-mail me at rachel@lifelongtails.org , I would love to help the Momma. And thank you for helping those needy guinea pigs. |

Hi Rachel! I didn't know you that also belonged to this group! I talked to my husband about it and am going to keep the mother piggie here on pregnancy watch and place the 3 babies up on Petfinder. The dog rescue that I volunteer for can put them on Petfinder for me. Hopefully they should be easy to place because they are yound and ADORABLE! If I already didn't have so many animals up for adoption, I would keep them in a minute! Thanks so much for your offer! I know that you already have your hands full! Please just keep me in mind if you know of anyone looking for baby piggies! ~Julie |

They are so cute, but Moe is just the sweetest little guy. I hope they get a home together. |

They are adorable! You have so much willpower to let them go. Their petfinder page doesn't specify a city, is it still Buffalo? I maintain a site of area adoptable pigs, including NY, and I'd like to add them on there. |

Thank you so much for all of your help! The babies are so cute!! They have gotten more used to me and every time I go near their cage, the 3 of them start to scream for food. Then their mom gets all excited in the next cage. Then my own piggies chime in. It's like a piggie concert going on! |
