Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0
My husband and I are having a hard time financially right now and it doesn't look like it will get any better for a good year at least. He is taking a job that will be great when he can top out in pay but until then we are taking a big hit. I am not able to buy good quality food and veggies. And we just had a new baby to top it all off. How should I go about rehoming them? They didn't come from a rescue so I don't have any contractual duties there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Start now trying to rehome them yourself, it's a long process finding a suitable home. You could look online for good screening guides, or maybe ask a rescue you respect for permission to use their adoption application. You could also look for a no kill shelter or a rescue taking surrenders, but be prepared to pay a surrender fee. Research whether the shelter is actually no kill, or just says it. Try guinea pig home and Guinea Pig Adoption Network. Good luck. |

You can post an add in the adoption section here, add a picture of them and some info about their personality. You could also contact some rescues near you and ask them to post a courtesy listing for you, and add a picture of your piggies to their site. |

Also post an add on Guinea Pig Home - Home which is run by T (cavy spirit). |

Personally, in addition to posting listings here and GPH, I would contact your local rescue and see if they would offer placement assistance. I know many groups will do this in exchange for the promise of volunteering down the road. The rescue may have someone in mind that would be perfect for you pigs or be able to point you in the right direction at least. It never hurts! Good luck. |
