Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0
We have been looking to adopt a friend for Bashful. He is currently on baytril-4 days into a 10 day course. The nearby shelter shows one we'd like to look into adopting-but I'm curious if we should wait to even approach the rescue until he's finished w/ the anti-biotics. The new one would be in quarantine anyway, would it make a difference, or should we hold off looking entirely until the course is finished? |

As long as you quarantine properly, it shouldn't be a problem. If at all possible, avoid bringing the new piggie into the house through the room Bashful is in. Keep him completely in another room and make sure Bashful is the last one you handle, that way you won't be passing anything to the new guy. |

That's great you're adopting. You might want to think about the time you can invest on a new piggie while one is sick though. I don't know your situation, but it might be worth waiting just so you can devote yourself to introductions, etc. I would have a harder time weighing every day, etc. if there was a new piggie around! And if your piggie relapsed at all you might not be able to give enough attention to the new pig. This might not apply to you though. |
